St. Lawrence University Appoints Leader of New Center for the EnvironmentSt. Lawrence University President Kathryn A. Morris and Vice President of the University and Dean of Academic Affairs Alison Del Rossi have announced the appointment of Diane White Husic, Ph.D. as the inaugural leader of the new Center for the Environment. She will take the helm as the Richard ’64 and Gail Stradling Executive Director of the Center for the Environment starting in July. |

Festival of Science, Scholarship and Creativity 2024St. Lawrence University buzzed with excitement on Friday, April 26, during the annual Festival of Science, Scholarship, and Creativity . Celebrating a campus-wide tradition that began in 2014, the day held an opportunity to learn from oral and poster presentations by 177 students about their research in a wide variety of fields and appreciate muscial and dance performances as well as the senior art exhibition. |

Global Studies SYE Poster Festival 2024The Global Studies Department hosted the Senior Year Experience Poster Festival at the McAllaster Room in ODY. The event was full of energy as fifteen talented senior students from the Global Studies program showed their research and findings through their posters. |
New 2024 Alpha Alpha Alpha InducteesSt. Lawrence's Eta Nu chapter of the Alpha Alpha Alpha first-generation college honors society inducted their newest class. Twenty-seven students and eight faculty and staff were inducted into the society. To be eligible, students needed to earned a GPA of at least a 3.2 and completed 9 units of coursework, while faculty and staff needed to have earned at least a bachelor's degree as a first-generation college student. |
Students and Faculty Attend and Present at Hudson River Undergraduate Math Conference (HRUMC)The 24th annual Hudson River Undergraduate Math Conference was held on April 6th at Keen State College in Keene, NH. Twelve St. Lawrence University students and faculty attended the conference and two students presented their work. |
Mathematical Honor Society - New Members Spring 2024Pi Mu Epsilon is a non-secret organization whose purpose is the promotion of scholarly activity in mathematics among students in academic institutions and among the staffs of qualified non-academic institutions. Pi Mu Epsilon recently welcomed new members for Spring 2024. |
New 2024 Pi Eta InducteesSt. Lawrence University's Pi Eta Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta inducted new lifetime members. Undergraduate students must complete a minimum of 12 semester hours (4 courses) in History, earned in the classroom, online or through AP or transfer credits (or a combination thereof). A minimum GPA of 3.1 in History and 3.0 GPA overall are required. |
Sociology Experiential Learning PresentationsEight sociology majors who studied abroad came together to present what they learned while studying outside of St. Lawrence County. From New York City to Sweden to Kenya, sociology students presented the findings of their research and shared their lived experiences with faculty and friends. If you see these students out and about on campus, be sure to ask them about their experience. |
Sociology Honor Society Welcomes New Members!St. Lawrence University's Alpha Kappa Delta honor society inducted sixteen new lifetime members. Members of AKD must be at least a junior and are expected to have a 3.3 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 GPA in four or more sociology courses taken at St. Lawrence University |

Exhibition: One Earring- Missing & Murdered Indigenous People Awareness- Richard F. Brush Art Gallery St. Lawrence University’s Native American Affairs and the Richard F. Brush Art Gallery present One Earring, an exhibition designed to raise awareness about Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP). Representing those who were stolen or never returned home, the One Earring project was inspired by the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs Office of Justice Services exhibition of the same title in 2022. |

Tis' The Season of Softball, Baseball, Golf, and Lacrosse!Jimmy King '26 was named the Individual Champion at the Liberty League Championships, leading Saints men’s golf to a second-place finish at the par-72 Shenendoah Golf Club at Turning Stone on Sunday. There was a playoff to determine the individual champion and Jimmy won on the second playoff hole. Jimmy finished with par on the first hole. Jimmy's opponent hit an errant drive on the second hole, leaving Jimmy with the win and a par. Judge Murphy '24 tallied six goals and an assist for seven points to lead the third-ranked Saints men's lacrosse team to a 15-10 upset win over fourth-ranked RPI on Saturday afternoon in Troy, New York. With the win, the Saints clinched the second seed in the upcoming Liberty League Tournament and earned regular season co-championship honors, with three teams finishing league play at 6-1. Second to Judge, Daniel Mahoney '27 recorded four goals and two ground balls, while Ted Wilson '26 scored twice. Two goals each from Liz Evans '24 and Jessica LaPlaca '27 were unfortunately not enough, as the seventh-seeded Saints women's lacrosse team fell 19-6 in the first round of the Liberty League Tournament to William Smith Tuesday. Both Saints baseball and softball wrapped up their regular seasons with two wins over the weekend. Baseball took two of three games against Clarkson, while softball swept Skidmore. Softball heads to RPI this weekend, hoping to lock down a playoff spot, while baseball engages Clarkson once more in the end-of-season series. Festival of Science, Scholarship, and Creativity! ❤️🤎On Friday, we forego regularly scheduled classes to celebrate our students’ academic accomplishments during the Festival of Science, Scholarship, and Creativity. This year, we learned how stress affects metamorphosis in frogs, how students think about sustainability on campus, how retinol has changed our relationship with aging, and how math can help us make better decisions in games like Monopoly or Dungeons and Dragons (among many other fascinating topics). During our annual Dance Showcase, we watch 16 students perform contemporary, jazz, Irish step, and classical pointe numbers. In the Brush Art Gallery, our gallery exhibition focused on “what we hold.” The 12 senior artists featured used a variety of mediums to consider the things in their lives that are hard to let go of—for better or worse. We couldn’t be prouder of all our students who shared their curiosity and creativity on Friday.
