On Saturday, we honored all Sept. 11 victims and their families, especially Laurentians Robert J. “Bobby” Coll ’88, Catherine Gorayeb ’82, Christopher Morrison ’89, Michel A. “Mike” Pelletier ’88, and Richard H. “Richie” Stewart Jr. ’89. In addition to the hundreds of American flags displayed on the Brush Quad, this year’s campus flag installation also included flags from the more than 90 countries that also lost people 20 years ago. Thank you to the SLU Democrats and International House coordinators for organizing the tribute and to the many students, faculty, and staff who played a role in making it happen again this year. Weekend Wins for the Scarlet and BrownIt was a great weekend to be a Saint! The football team brought the Hoffman Cup back to Canton after securing a 30-19 win over Norwich on Saturday while men's soccer defeated Hartwick 3-2 after tying its program record with a 9-0 win over SUNY Canton last week. Women's soccer topped Farmingdale 1-0 to remain undefeated while Jackson Hamilton '23 won the Hamilton Short Course Invitational as Saints men's cross country secured the team title and Alli Sibold '24 won the 4k race to take the women's team to a victory. The men's tennis team wrapped up the St. Lawrence Fall Classic with sophomores Broderick Pinto, John Hill-Edgar, and Edvin Strandberg securing individual victories. The Scarlet and Brown skated to a 1-0 win over Union on Saturday after securing a 3-0 win over RPI on Friday. The wins continued with women's swimming and diving dominating Clarkson 135-95, field hockey topping Morrisville 3-0 to conclude its season, Saints football securing a 35-21 win over Rochester, and men's soccer defeating Hobart 1-0 after shutting out Plattsburgh 3-0 earlier in the week. Top Flights for the Saints, Fall Sports ContinueSaints men's and women's tennis teams dominated the competition this weekend. The tandem of Catherine Gamble '23 and Molly Jespersen '23 won the flight A Championship over Union at the St. Lawrence Invitational while Edvin Strandberg '25 came away with the B flight, and Broderick Pinto '25 won the C flight over Union to lead the men's tennis team at the Dutchmen Invitational. The wins continued with Saints women's rowing opening its season with a first-place win over Mount Holyoke while first-year Matthew Serrano won the Kangaroo Invitational 8k to lead the men's cross country team to the title. The field hockey team secured 1-0 home opener win over Oswego while the volleyball team defeated Medaille College 3-2 after beating Utica 3-2.
