An Evening With Adia VictoriaSt. Lawrence University and the Ken Okoth '01 Black American Music Project will welcome Adia Victoria to campus for an evening concert on Friday, September 26, at 7 p.m. in the Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall. The event is free, open to the public, and will be livestreamed. |
Saints Secure Wins, Earn Liberty League HonorsMen’s Soccer: The men's soccer team earned its first win of the season with a 2-0 derby victory over SUNY Canton. Junior Dennis Argueta and first-year Sammy Bothwell scored, while first-year goalie Zach Amato secured the shutout. Women’s Soccer: The women's soccer team rallied with two second-half goals to defeat Oswego State 2-1 on the road. The win improved their season record to 2-1-2. Men’s Cross-Country: Seniors Nick Lyndaker, Patrick Russell, and Griffin Roeder swept the top three spots at the Hamilton Short Course, leading the men's cross-country team to its second straight win of the season. Lyndaker was just four second shy of his personal best in the 5k, and won Liberty League Runner of the Week honors. Men’s Tennis: First-year Josh David made a strong debut at the SLU Fall Classic, reaching the A singles semifinals and earning Liberty League Rookie of the Week. He also teamed up with his brother and junior Jake David in doubles, winning their first match. Football: Senior Ryan Surhoff led the football team’s defense in a close loss to St. John Fisher, recording five tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, an interception, and a quarterback hurry. He was named Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week. Women’s Tennis: Senior Maya Stepic and sophomore Kate Butler won the B doubles consolation final at the Mary Hosking Invitational. In A doubles, seniors Angelica Aksdal-Jansen and Molly Jespersen reached the final but fell 6-3. Women’s Golf: Sophomore Sadie Cumming won the individual title and led the women's golf team to a first-place finish at the SUNY Poly Invitational. She shot four birdies and finished with a 74, one over par. Women’s Cross-Country: Junior Charlotte Blake finished second overall at the Hamilton Short Course Invitational, helping the women's cross-country team to a third-place finish in the four-kilometer race. On February 11, President Morris informed the Laurentian community about the passing of Professor Emerita of Sociology Patrice Elaine Patterson LeClerc. Patrice was a beloved faculty member from 1995 until her retirement in 2013, during which time she enriched the academic community at St. Lawrence through her teaching, research, and dedication to her students. Track and Field Teams Secure Ice Broken Open Titles; Spring Sports ContinueThe Saints track and field teams are continuing a winning streak after securing team titles at Ice Broken Open on Saturday. The women's team won 12 events and the men's team won 9 events during the home meet against Castleton, Clarkson, Herkimer, NVU-Johnson, Plattsburgh, and Potsdam. The weekend wins continued with the men’s and women’s tennis teams each dominating Bard 9-0 while men’s lacrosse defeated Ithaca 14-10 and women’s lacrosse beat Bard 20-8. Baseball defeated Ithaca 6-2 after beating SUNY Poly 2-0 last week while Esports advanced to the Elite 8 in the Teemo Cup after securing a 2-0 win over Milligan University. After winning its 11th-straight Regional Championship, four members of Saints riding will advance to Zones on April 9. Eleven skiers from the Alpine and Nordic ski teams were honored by the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association (USCSCA) for having earned National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team honors for the 2022 season while six members of the men's and women's track and field teams earned all-region honors for the indoor season, as announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Women’s Cross Country Clinches Liberty League Title Four Saints finished in the top 10 to lead the women’s cross country team to the Liberty League conference title on Saturday, while the men’s squad finished fourth overall. Women’s Ice Hockey shut out RPI on Friday (3-0) and Union a day later (4-0) to earn two big ECAC Hockey wins as the Saints kicked off conference action. Football celebrated a 34-10 victory over the University of Rochester on Saturday, while the men’s soccer team defeated Hobart in OT to claim the No. 5 seed in Liberty League playoffs. Volleyball went 2-1 last week with wins over SUNY Potsdam and Keuka but falling to SUNY Cortland on Saturday, while the women’s field hockey team defeated St. John Fisher 3-2 on Saturday. Saints Celebrate Milestones, Earn WinsLegends of Appleton/Men’s Hockey Centennial: The Saints men’s hockey program celebrates its 100th Anniversary and the 2025 Legends Weekend on November 14-15. Join us in Canton as we honor the legacy of Saints hockey and induct Tom O'Connor '75 and Ray Shero '84 into the Legends of Appleton. Click here for more information. Men’s Soccer: Junior defender Baker Diaz earned All-Liberty League First Team honors. Seniors Ryan Campbell and Jeremy Ogango made the Second Team, and juniors Nicholas Petrone and Gustav Scheibler were named to the Third Team. The Saints placed sixth and qualified for the Liberty League tournament. Women’s Squash: First-year Eboni Atherley was named Liberty League Rookie of the Week after helping the Saints open their season with a 7-0 sweep over Chatham on the road. Women’s Soccer: Seniors Madison King-Thurber and Meredith Donahue earned All-Liberty League Second Team honors, while junior defender Chloe Bourque made the Third Team. Men’s Swimming and Diving: The Saints defeated Bard 100-40, taking first in every event entered. First-year Logan Doody won three events. Women’s Swimming and Diving: St. Lawrence rolled to a 148-31 win over Bard, sweeping all events at Augsbury Pool. Junior Gracie Ringer earned two first-place finishes. Football: Senior running-back William Murray scored twice as the Saints held off Buffalo State 24-19. Senior Will Lederman passed for 258 yards and a touchdown, while sophomore Cole Phelan caught four passes for 113 yards. Senior kicker Clayton Fogler was named Liberty League Special Teams Player of the Week. Women’s Hockey: Graduate student Alexa Davis scored the game-winner and senior Emma-Sofie Nordström made 45 saves in a 1-0 shutout win over Princeton.
