    - Carnegie 10 Each semester, the Center for International and Intercultural Studies partners with faculty, staff, students, and alumni to offer an engaging speaker series on timely, global topics. Join members of the St. Lawrence campus community as they share updates and interdisciplinary perspectives on the short-and long-term impacts of the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

    The Klan Whisperer

    - Peterson-Kermani Hall As part of Diversity and Inclusion week, St. Lawrence University and the Ken Okoth ’01 Black American Music Project will welcome acclaimed musician and race relations expert Daryl Davis for an evening lecture and show on Thursday, March 2 at 7 p.m. in Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall. This event is free and open to the public.

    Richard F. Brush Art Gallery to Present Wool and Water Exhibition

    - Richard F. Brush Art Gallery Explore the Wool and Water exhibition on display at the Richard F. Brush Art Gallery until April 12. The exhibition is a collaborative data-art project that blends fiber art with scientific information to create visual representations of changing water quality conditions in New York State’s Adirondack Mountains and neighboring Lake Champlain Basin.

    - Richard F. Brush Art Gallery The gallery talk by Michale Glennon and Carolyn Twomey is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Wool and Water, on display at the Richard F. Brush Art Gallery from March 6 to April 12, 2023.

    Saints Basketball, Your Liberty League Champions!

    It was an electric Sunday afternoon in Burkman as the Saints men’s basketball team dominated RPI 50-42 in overtime to secure the Liberty League championship. In a standing-room-only crowd, the Scarlet and Brown extended their winning streak to eight and improve to 19-7 after defeating Hobart 80-78 in the semifinals on Friday. The Saints will go on to compete in the NCAA tournament. The weekend wins continued with men's ice hockey shutting out Dartmouth 2-0 at Appleton to secure the fourth seed in the ECAC Tournament while women's hockey beat Quinnipiac 3-2 to conclude its season. Men's squash defeated Middlebury and MIT 5-4 during the Semifinal round of the Summers Cup at the CSA Team Nationals while Erik Geier '23 defended his Liberty League title in the 60-meter hurdles and broke a decade-old school record during the championship meet in Rochester. In recognition of their excellence in the classroom, several winter sport student-athletes earned Liberty League All-Academic honors.     SLU Connect Links Laurentians 

    SLU Connect—Washington, D.C. linked dozens of alumni, parents, and friends with students to network and explore different career opportunities in the D.C. area. Students attended a panel discussion at the U.S. Department of State, toured sites including the Capitol Building and World Bank, participated in roundtable discussions with industry experts, and much more!     Students Increase Mental Health Resources On Campus Through Peer Health Network

    The SLU Peer Health Network promotes wellness campus-wide by combining events, resources, and peer support. An idea formed in a community-based learning class, this student-run initiative will benefit the St. Lawrence community for years to come.

    St. Lawrence University’s Board of Trustees has elected Nicholas G. Penniman V ’92 as a new term member. Penniman will serve for a period of six years beginning on July 1.

    Though it was practically predestined, Caroline Fleischauer ’15 didn’t come to St. Lawrence expecting to discover her passion for teaching. Education was always an important value in her family, but Fleischauer was uncertain if it was her calling, too.

    At first glance, an art and art history major and a geology minor may not seem like the most obvious combination. For Michael Yirenkyi ’22, they’re a perfect match. In his geology classes, he learned how to ask critical questions. In art and art history, he imagined creative answers. Four years of exploring, creating, and embracing new perspectives lead him to his greatest passion yet–architecture.

    The Barista: Making Space for 'Safe Saturdays' and More

    During their first year on campus, Cheyenne McQuain ’20 and Brady Terry ’20 were inspired to create a substance-free space for students. Today, The Barista, a sober theme house, continues their work by providing games, movies, and lifelong friendships.

    St. Lawrence University womxn faculty participated in a two-day academic writing retreat on June 16 and 17.

    SLU Students Awarded Scholarships for Off-Campus Study in Denmark

    The Center for International and Intercultural Studies is pleased to congratulate several SLU students who were awarded scholarship funds by DIS to support their off-campus study plans in Copenhagen, Denmark for the fall 2022 semester. DIS Scholarship funds can assist with costs associated with off-campus study including flights, visas, and passports, as well as other on-site opportunities.

    Dr. Sue Willson Leads Summer Course in Ecuador

    Each summer, St. Lawrence University offers a dynamic array of courses taught around the world. Associate Professor of Biology Susan Willson led Laurentians in Ecuador through her Summer 2022 Course where they visited three distinct tropical ecosystems: the high-elevation Andean grasslands, the humid montane cloud forest, and the Galapagos Islands.

    In accordance with public health recommendations, a COVID-19 vaccination booster is required for all St. Lawrence University students and employees within 30 days of becoming eligible.     Former Saints Women's Lacrosse and Field Hockey Coach to be Honored with IWLCA Hall of Fame Induction

    Longtime St. Lawrence women's lacrosse and field hockey coach Dotty Hall will be enshrined in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Hall of Fame in November. Hall was one of the most successful coaches in the history of Saints women's athletics with a combined win total of 306 victories in field hockey and lacrosse. Read her story

    Saints Head to Liberty League Championships; Swim Program Records Shattered

    The men’s and women’s track and field teams are headed to the Liberty League Championships after winning the SLU Open against SUNY Plattsburgh, Utica, Vermont, Mohawk Valley, and SUNY Potsdam last weekend. During the Liberty League Championships in Ithaca, the women's swimming and diving team shattered program records in the 800 freestyle relay and 4x400 freestyle as Maggie Wenger '24 set a new 100 freestyle program record. Over the weekend, men’s basketball defeated Union 81-62 to secure a first-round playoff game after topping Skidmore 65-64 and women’s basketball beat Skidmore 76-45 to secure their 20th win of the season. Men’s ice hockey defeated Cornell 2-1 in an overtime contest on Friday while women’s ice hockey skated to a 3-3 tie with Harvard last week and men’s tennis beat SUNY Oneonta 8-1 on Saturday. Men’s squash defeated Middlebury 7-2 in the quarterfinal matchup of the Summers Cup at the CSA Nationals but fell to No. 5 seeded Tufts in the Semifinal matchup.  For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores.  For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores.
