The SLU Peer Health Network promotes wellness campus-wide by combining events, resources, and peer support. An idea formed in a community-based learning class, this student-run initiative will benefit the St. Lawrence community for years to come.

St. Lawrence University’s Board of Trustees has elected Nicholas G. Penniman V ’92 as a new term member. Penniman will serve for a period of six years beginning on July 1.

Though it was practically predestined, Caroline Fleischauer ’15 didn’t come to St. Lawrence expecting to discover her passion for teaching. Education was always an important value in her family, but Fleischauer was uncertain if it was her calling, too.

Since its inception in 2014, St. Lawrence’s Business Case Study course has provided students with the tools needed to analyze real-world industry problems while developing thoughtful solutions. The best part? The alumni network and local business owners are there to offer expert insight.

Faculty members put their knowledge into action so students and others are able to benefit from it. Recently, faculty weighed in on current events as podcast guests, published journal articles with alumni, presented papers at international conferences, and shared their passion for poetry in published works.

At first glance, an art and art history major and a geology minor may not seem like the most obvious combination. For Michael Yirenkyi ’22, they’re a perfect match. In his geology classes, he learned how to ask critical questions. In art and art history, he imagined creative answers. Four years of exploring, creating, and embracing new perspectives lead him to his greatest passion yet–architecture.

During their first year on campus, Cheyenne McQuain ’20 and Brady Terry ’20 were inspired to create a substance-free space for students. Today, The Barista, a sober theme house, continues their work by providing games, movies, and lifelong friendships.

The Center for International and Intercultural Studies is pleased to congratulate several SLU students who were awarded scholarship funds by DIS to support their off-campus study plans in Copenhagen, Denmark for the fall 2022 semester. DIS Scholarship funds can assist with costs associated with off-campus study including flights, visas, and passports, as well as other on-site opportunities.

Each summer, St. Lawrence University offers a dynamic array of courses taught around the world. Associate Professor of Biology Susan Willson led Laurentians in Ecuador through her Summer 2022 Course where they visited three distinct tropical ecosystems: the high-elevation Andean grasslands, the humid montane cloud forest, and the Galapagos Islands.
