Laurentians to Receive Honorary Degrees In recognition of their exemplary accomplishments and steadfast commitment to St. Lawrence University, President Emeritus William L. Fox. ’75, Lynn Smith Fox, and Grant H. Cornwell Jr. ’79 will be presented with honorary degrees during this year’s commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 22.

McNair Scholar Selected for National Science Foundation Fellowship Following a competitive nationwide search, Anuva Anannya ’22 has been selected for the 2022 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, making her the first St. Lawrence McNair Scholar to receive the prestigious award that will fund her research-based master's and doctoral degrees at an accredited U.S. institution of her choice.

Peace Corps Prep Certificate Program Celebrates First Cohort, Cords Seniors The Peace Corps Prep Certificate Program, which began in fall 2021, recognized graduating students during a cording ceremony and welcomed 12 new students

Liberal Arts in New York City: 2021-2022 Outcomes Several students who participated in the Liberal Arts in New York City program successfully secured full-time employment and internships thanks to the strong connections they built.

Students Inducted into Physics Honorary Society Four students were inducted into Sigma Pi Sigma, an honor society recognizing students' outstanding scholarship in physics.

Physics Majors Present Results of Senior Research Several physics majors presented the results of their year-long Senior Year Experience research projects.

Lost and Found: A&AH Senior Year Exhibition Fri, Apr 29 - All day Richard F. Brush Art Gallery Celebrate members of the Class of 2022 during the final week of the "Lost and Found" is a Senior Year Experience exhibition. This collection of artwork focuses on self-discovery and self-reflection and that was created at the edge of the precipice before true adulthood and a transitory state that can be simultaneously confusing, frightening, and exciting.

Commencement Weekend 2022 Fri, May 20 - All day Congratulations St. Lawrence Class of 2022! The St. Lawrence community will come together in a campus-wide celebration of the graduating class beginning Friday, May 20 through Sunday, May 22. A livestream of the commencement ceremony will begin Sunday, May 22 at 9:50 a.m.

Saints Lacrosse End Seasons at NCAAs; Scarlet and Brown Earn All-League Honors After a record-breaking season and first NCAA appearance in over three decades, Saints Women’s Lacrosse concluded its spring season during a second-round matchup against Tufts. The No. 10 Saints Men’s Lacrosse defeated Cortland 15-14 in the second round of the NCAA tournament but fell to Bowdin in the third round. This week, the men’s and women’s track and field teams will head to Pennsylvania to compete in the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference. In recognition of their stellar spring sports performances, several members of the Scarlet and Brown earned All-League Honors. For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores visit SaintsAthletics.com.

Spring Student-Athletes Earn Liberty League All-Academic Honors A total of 109 St. Lawrence spring sport student-athletes earned Liberty League All-Academic honors, recognizing their all-star performances in the classroom. To be recognized as a member of the All-Academic Team a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30.

St. Lawrence Celebrates Graduates at 2022 Commencement In a ceremony highlighting gratitude, perseverance, and lifelong connections, more than 500 St. Lawrence University graduates took part in the University’s Commencement on Sunday, May 22, at Newell Field House.

Meet St. Lawrence's Class of 2022 After St. Lawrence’s Class of 2022 flip their tassels, they’ll enter the world prepared to leave it better than they found it. After four years of taking inspiring classes, encountering new perspectives around the globe, volunteering in their communities, conducting purposeful research, following creative pursuits, and working with passionate Laurentian mentors, they have the tools they need to make an impact wherever they go next.

Dr. Eve Stoddard Delivers CIIS Annual Lecture Professor Emerita in Global Studies Dr. Eve Stoddard was the keynote speaker at this year's CIIS Annual Lecture and discussed the partnership between academic study on-campus and intercultural learning off-campus, and the importance of critical self-reflection before, during, and after off-campus study.

Saints Qualify for NCAAs, Earn Liberty League Accolades After competing in the Atlantic Regional, several members of the Saints Track and Field teams are headed to NCAA DIII Championship meets later this week. During the regional meet last week, Timothy Boyce '25 won the 800, breaking a St. Lawrence record while Emma Palumbo '25, Kathleen Merchant '22, and Katherine Sheehy '23 beat their personal bests in their respective events. The Scarlet and Brown stacked up accolades as three Saints earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Region honors while several members of the men's and women's tennis and rowing, and baseball teams earned All-Liberty League Honors. For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores visit SaintsAthletics.com.

Faculty and Staff Honored, Awarded Promotions at Annual Convocation Ceremony To mark the beginning of a new academic year and celebrate the contributions of all members of the St. Lawrence community, the University honored several employees with awards for their outstanding service and recognized a number of faculty who earned tenure and promotions during their annual Convocation event. The ceremony was held outside in the Herring-Cole Grove on Wednesday, August 25.

St. Lawrence Welcomes Class of 2026 The Class of 2026 are leaders in and out of the classroom. They’re artists and performers, entrepreneurs, athletes, and advocates. Even before they matriculated on August 21, 2022, they set the bar high for future Laurentians. They came to St. Lawrence with a cumulative four-year GPA of 92.3—a record for an incoming class.

Financing the Future Earlier this year, St. Lawrence University received its largest George I. Alden Trust grant award to create a new, state-of-the-art Bloomberg Finance Lab in Owen D. Young Library (ODY) in support of the new finance major.

Laurentians Inspire: Alaska Boat Captain Casts a Net on Sustainability This summer Jessica Normandeau ’15 set sail on her newest business venture: captain of a 32-foot vessel in Bristol Bay, Alaska. With grueling 18-hour workdays and a lot of creative problem solving, she’s part of a small percentage of women sustainably harvesting fish from the world’s largest, completely wild, sockeye salmon run.

Auditions for Silent Sky Thu, Sep 1 at 7pm - 2 hours Gulick Theatre, Noble Center Science+ Feminism+ Theatre: What could be better? Auditions for the Fall 2022 University Theatre production of "Silent Sky" by Lauren Gunderson and directed by Jen Thomas will be held on Thursday, September 1 from 7-9 p.m. in Gulick Theatre. Audition appointments due to scheduling conflicts are available upon request.

Richard F. Brush Art Gallery Presents: Inspiring, Controversial, Obey! Wed, Aug 10 - All day Richard F. Brush Art Gallery The Richard F. Brush Art Gallery presents work by one of the most well-known contemporary American street artists, Shepard Fairey on display from Wednesday, August 10 through Saturday, September 3. In celebration of the exhibition, the community is invited to participate in a sticker design contest. Submissions are due Thursday, September 1 at noon.

Saints Honor Laurentian During Run4Ryan The St. Lawrence University men's and women's cross country and track and field programs held the 15th Annual Run4Ryan Alumni Run on Saturday. The 5 and 6K event brought together alumni, current students, and the local community to honor late Saints athlete, Ryan Wells '05. Move-In Day and Matriculation 2022 The Class of 2026 has officially started its journey as Laurentians.

Faculty Focus-August 22, 2022 Faculty members put their knowledge into action so students and others are able to benefit from it. Recently, faculty published research articles, presented at conferences, and served as expert panelists and podcast guests.

First Person: Finding My Passion and Personal Brand After a semester of exploring different classes at St. Lawrence, Owen Hammel ’22 still wasn’t sure where he wanted to focus his college experience, at least not until a favorite rap album inspired him to try his hand at video editing. Over the next few years, Owen tailored his classes to fit his growing passion for videography and honed his skills while capturing campus life as a member of the student marketing team.

Its purpose is to mark by ritual a new beginning for our mission as a university and acknowledge the accomplishments of faculty and staff members who are part of St. Lawrence's academic community.
