Marty Whalen.

Martha (Marty) Whalen’s career has spanned numerous fields - including education, organizational development, marketing and finance. Marty has worked as a corporate change agent, trainer, curriculum development specialist and instructional designer, among other industry roles. She has been employed by companies such as Xerox Corporation, Dell EMC and Safariland, LLC. And she has worked in faculty and administrative roles in academia, including assisting with management of a “College Bound” program at Boston College for urban high school students from the Boston Public Schools.

Marty grew up in Canton, NY and is a proud graduate of St. Lawrence University (with a BA in Economics). Her father, sister and an uncle all graduated from SLU as well. Marty also holds an MBA (from Clarkson University), an MS in Career and Human Resource Development (from Rochester Institute of Technology) and a Ph.D. in Education (from Boston College). Marty will soon complete an Advanced Certificate in Instructional Design and Emerging Technologies (from the State University of New York/Empire State University).

In addition to teaching in SLU’s First-Year Program, Marty has also taught business and communication courses for her other alma maters. She enjoys traveling throughout New England, New York and Texas to visit family members.
