Panelist Biographies

Katherine Bagley '07

Reporter, InsideClimate News

Katherine Bagley '07 is a reporter for InsideClimate News who covers the intersection of environmental science, politics and policy, with an emphasis on climate change. She is co-author of the book Bloomberg's Hidden Legacy: Climate Change and the Future of New York City (InsideClimate News, 2013) and has contributed print and multimedia work to Popular Science, Audubon, OnEarth and The Scientist. Her writing has also been included in the anthology Best American Science and Nature Writing. She teaches science journalism at Barnard University and holds master's degrees in journalism and earth and environmental sciences from Columbia.

Michele Fazekas '93

Showrunner, ABC

Michele Fazekas '93 is a showrunner on both “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” which recently debuted on ABC, and “Resurrection,” now in its second season on ABC. She and writing partner Tara Butters created The CW cult hit “Reaper,” and prior to that served as writer/producer on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" for five seasons, during which time they received two Writers Guild of America nominations. She has also worked on such series as “Hawaii 5-0,” “Terra Nova” and Joss Whedon's “Dollhouse," and has developed pilots for ABC, CW, CBS and Fox.

Phoebe Kornfeld '77

Former General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, Intercell AG

In her last position, Phoebe Kornfeld '77 was General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Intercell AG. Now retired, her work in the biotech industry was preceded by ten years in private practice as a corporate lawyer as well as several years as a teacher in France and England before she became a lawyer. She graduated from St. Lawrence Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude, with honors in Government and a double major in Government and German, and earned her Ph.D. at Duke University and her J.D. at Duke University School of Law.

David Schryver '05

Vice President of Client Relations, ProAct

David J. Schryver '05 is Vice President of Client Relations at ProAct Inc. He is responsible for the coordination, implementation and support of all PBM and Managed Care clients. These responsibilities include all aspects of the clients’ pharmacy experience, from customer service to account management quality assurance and clinical management. David also has direct oversight of ProAct Pharmacy Services, ProAct’s mail-order pharmacy. David graduated magna cum laude in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and received his Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from Albany College of Pharmacy, graduating cum laude in 2008.
