North Country Public Radio is based at St. Lawrence University in Canton and already owns an extensive network of 33 transmitters and translators across northern New York. The purchase of WNYV expands the reach of St. Lawrence's radio operations in the region.

General Biology Course Coordinator and Outdoor Studies Staff of the Biology Department Eileen Visser has been the subject of multiple news outlets such as WWNY News 7 and our local North Country Now News for the completion of her paddling journey. Visser set out on her journey with her team The Arctic Cowboys to kayak the Northwest Passage in mid-June. She recently made history as part of the first team to paddle across the Arctic Ocean’s Northwest Passage in one season, finishing her 1,800-mile journey in 108 days.
