The Richard F. Brush Art Gallery Has Been Selected to Participate in a Risk Assessment and Emergency Preparedness Program
The Richard F. Brush Art Gallery at St. Lawrence University has been selected to participate in a Risk Assessment and Emergency Preparedness Program, partially funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). The program is administered by the Conservation Center for Art & Historical Artifacts, Philadelphia, PA, to assist with identifying and being prepared for potential threats and risks to the Gallery’s permanent collection, and to offer strategies for mitigating those risks. The risk assessment will also lay the framework and serve as a starting point for the development of an emergency preparedness and response plan.
Catherine Tedford, Gallery Director, states, “A risk assessment and emergency preparedness plan builds on work being done these past few years to protect the collection and ensure its safety for years to come. Other recently NEH-funded grants in 2020-21 and 2022-24 helped us get a better understanding of facilities-related needs, including environmental controls, to properly maintain and preserve works of art and cultural artifacts. These grants did not require matching funds from the University.”
