Saints Shine: Athletes Excel Across Sports!Women's hockey qualified for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) tournament via an at-large bid after making the ECAC tournament and playing in the semifinal game against Clarkson. The Scarlet and Brown is matched up against Pennsylvania State in its first game of the tournament scheduled for Thursday in Madison, Wisconsin. If the Saints win, the team will face off against Wisconsin. The Saints women's hockey players were also recognized both nationally and at the conference level. Mae Batherson M'25, Emma-Sofie Nordström '26 and head coach Chris Wells were named finalists for the ECAC Defenseman of the Year, Goaltender of the Year, and Coach of the Year awards, respectively, while junior forward Abby Hustler '26 was named a top-10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award, as announced by the USA Hockey Foundation. The Patty Kazmaier Award is bestowed annually to the top player in NCAA Division I women's ice hockey. Alli Sibold '24 became the national runner-up in the mile at the NCAA indoor track and field championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia over the weekend. She set a new program record after turning in a time of 4:50.97 to eclipse the personal-best and program record marks she set earlier this season. The win also gave her All-America honors in the mile event. Earlier in the week, Alli took home US Track Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) regional track athlete of the year award, receiving all-region honors for the 3000m, mile and 800m. Nick Lyndaker '26 also received men's USTFCCCA all-region honors in the mile. Lewis Anderson '25 tied a St. Lawrence record for program wins at the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Nationals in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania over the weekend. With the win, the junior from Birmingham, U.K. reached 62 for his career, tying him for the program record alongside Moustafa Bayoumy '18. Emma Strack '25 competed for the Saints at the NCAA skiing championships, posting a 16th-place finish in the 7.5k freestyle followed by a posting a top-20 finish in the 20k classic by finishing 19th. |
