Overview
When you are getting a new phone, there are several steps you can take to ensure that you have a smooth experience when using your new device. These instructions may vary depending on the make and model of your old and new phones.

Before receiving your new phone
- Back up your data
- It is highly recommended to create a backup of the data on your phone in order to avoid losing any of the data stored on it. This can be done in a variety of ways, depending on the model of your phone and if you want to make a local backup or a cloud backup. You can also do so by backing up individual sections of your data, including your photos, music, or files. The following is a list of examples of services that can provide partial or total data backups:
- iCloud
- Google Drive
- Google Photos
- OneDrive

- Uninstall the Microsoft Authenticator App
- Before switching to your new phone, it is best to uninstall the Microsoft Authenticator App so that it can be re-installed on your new phone. You can find instructions for removing the Authenticator app here.
- Export your SLU contacts
- To ensure you have access to all of your contacts, make sure you export them so they can be saved on another device.
- Sign out of any St. Lawrence Accounts
- If you are signed into any websites or accounts with your St. Lawrence credentials, please sign out of them to avoid potential security risks.
