About Our Program
Marhaba! Explore the rich cultural heritage of the Middle East in our Arabic studies program.
In the classroom, you’ll master the Arabic language with the guidance of a fluent professor as you examine Middle Eastern government and religion from history to the present day.
With your Arabic language skills and intercultural understanding, you’ll be well prepared for an immersive international experience in Jordan where you'll live with a homestay family, enjoy local cuisine, and explore the vibrant capital city of Amman.
The skills and experiences you gain in our program will open doors to a variety of careers in a global setting. Students who studied a language at St. Lawrence work in the finance industry, serve in the Peace Corps, and teach language in countries around the world.
A Global PerspectiveWith a wealth of opportunities for a global education, you can put your language skills to use in our study abroad programs as you explore the origins of the language you’ve mastered.

CIIS Fellows Program
Apply for a grant to undertake off-campus research in another country or within a minority U.S. culture with a faculty mentor.
Learn by doing in a real-world environment. Our majors gain experience while making a difference through service work. Students in our program have volunteered as language teachers in local areas schools or on campus as teaching and writing assistants for language courses.
