Scarlet and Brown Victories!

The women's volleyball team started the Saints off strong with Araiza Acum-Santos ’27 and Vanessa Latam ’27 scoring career-highs as they claimed a 3-2 win over SUNY Potsdam. Saints field hockey followed with a shutout on the road against Oswego, winning 2-0. Our women’s tennis team swept their final day of the SLU invitational. The team went 8-0 in singles and 5-0 in doubles on Sunday. Men’s soccer brought home the win over SUNY Potsdam thanks to Max Mogul’s ’25 strike giving the Saints a 1-0 victory.

Alejandra ’24 made just about 600 sheets of paper out of recycled scraps, old T-shirts, and plant fibers. Meghan ’25 combed through the St. Lawrence archives to recover and preserve correspondence between Laurentians serving in WWII and Helen Whalen, the registrar at the time. Here We Go Saints 2024

Here We Go Saints 2024 is officially underway now until Wednesday, September 25 at 8 p.m.! This fourth annual fundraising drive supports Saints Athletics, including our 35 teams and key areas of support like athletic medicine, strength and conditioning, athletic communications, and more!  Learn about this year’s "Saintly Incentives," featuring custom tailgating gear, and our "Scarlet & Brown Rewards" that our teams are competing for with donor participation, by visiting the Here We Go Saints Headquarters.

Saints Celebrate Anniversaries, Wins, and New Captains for the 2024-25 Season

Field Hockey—St. Lawrence field hockey celebrated its 50th anniversary Saturday with a commanding 4-1 victory over Oswego State.

Men’s Soccer—The men’s soccer team claimed the Mayor’s Cup with a 4-0 win over Hartwick after a 1-1 draw with Oneonta earlier in the weekend. The offense surged as the Saints found the back of the net four times to secure the title.

Women’s Tennis— Women’s tennis earned four draw championships on the final day of the Union Invitational in Schenectady. In the B draw, sophomore Yvette Karera secured her title with a comeback win 2-6, 6-1, 10-4. Yvette also teamed up with her sister, sophomore Ariane Karera, to win 8-4 in the A doubles draw, to advance to the final. The Karera sisters claimed another 8-4 victory against teammates junior Molly Jespersen and first-year Eleanor McDermed, giving Yvette her second draw win of the tournament.

Hockey—Saints women’s and men’s hockey announced their captains for the upcoming season. Graduate student Anna Segedi will serve as captain for the women’s team, with graduate student Kristina Bahl, senior Abby Hustler, and graduate student Melissa Jeffries as alternates. For the men’s team, senior Mason Waite, senior Philippe Chapleau, senior Drake Burgin, and senior Ty Naaykens will wear the ‘C’ this season.

New Year, New Opportunities at the Club and Organization Fair 

The Club and Organization Fair brought together over 150 student-led clubs and organizations, offering everything from outdoor adventures to arts, advocacy, and student leadership. Whether students are looking to try something new or dig deeper into their passions, there’s a place for everyone.  Saints Breaking Records!

Women’s hockey wrapped up another successful weekend by winning their third and fourth games in a row over Quinnipiac and Princeton respectively. Their record now stands at 23-9-0, the best women’s hockey team winning percentage (.719) since 2016-17. They have clinched a "First-round bye" and will host the "ECAC’s second round".

The men’s hockey team shocked the college hockey world Friday evening by defeating the defending national champion, No. 5 Quinnipiac, 3-1 at Appleton Arena Friday evening. Defenseman Philippe Chapleau '25 scored two goals late in the game to seal the victory.

Program records fell on the track Friday, with Alli Sibold '24 and Nick Lyndaker '26 both breaking records in their respective 3000 m track and field events at the "Fastrack National Invitational" in Staten Island, N.Y. Lyndaker, broke a 40-year-old program record by one second with a time of 8:13.87. Sibold’s time of 9:30.76 in the event is the new women’s program-best by 12 full seconds.

St. Lawrence will be smack dab in the path of totality during this once-in-a-lifetime experience, which means campus will be cloaked in total cosmic darkness as the moon passes over the sun. Subject-Object Exhibition Available Online

Work curated for the Subject-Object Exhibition by Associate Professor of Art and Art History Sarah Knobel is available for online viewing thanks to a website she built with Cassandra Raye Pryce '22, whose work is featured in the show. The exhibition is currently on display at the Richard F. Brush Art Gallery until Saturday, Feb. 26. View the website. 

Virtual Organ Concert: Celebrating the Estey Organ

The pipe organ housed in Gunnison Memorial Chapel was built by the Estey Organ Company, one of the largest organ companies in the world. Sondra Goldsmith performs in this virtual recital celebrating the Estey organ. Watch the concert.

Saints Celebrate Wins; Winter Sports Continue

Men's Squash swept the competition to secure 5-4 wins over Bowdoin, Colby, and Bates while Women’s Squash dominated Colby 8-1. The weekend wins continued with Women’s Swimming and Diving securing their fifth straight dual meet victory over Utica as Women’s Ice Hockey defeated Dartmouth 6-2 to celebrate their fourth straight win. Men’s Basketball defeated Vassar 51-50 after topping Canton 76-53 last week while Women's Basketball topped Bard in both match-ups (68-49 and 72-56). Men’s Ice Hockey skated to a 4-4 tie against Clarkson. During the Lake Placid Super Tour, Leif Harvey '25, Lilli Thomas '25, and Emma Strack '25 posted top finishes for Saints Nordic Skiing while Kathleen Merchant ’22, Jackson Hamilton ’23, and Timothy Boyce ’25 won their respective events at the Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Middlebury Invitationals.  For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores. Skating Saints Honor Teddy Balkind
