Saints Post Dominant WinsWomen’s Soccer: Senior Meredith Donahue tallied a goal and an assist as the women’s soccer team earned a balanced 4-0 win over Bard College at the Lorenzo Ferrari Soccer & Lacrosse Complex in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. The Saints improved to 5-3-3 overall and 1-1-0 in Liberty League play. Football: Six touchdowns, including five from senior Will Lederman, powered St. Lawrence to a 45-14 Liberty League win over Hilbert on Saturday at Leckonby Stadium. Lederman passed for a career-high 341 yards and four touchdowns, completing 14 of 17 passes with a long of 73 yards. Senior Nicholas Huhtala added four catches for a career-best 137 yards, and senior Shea Goodwin recorded six receptions for 95 yards. Lederman was named LL offensive performer of the week, while first-year Luke Robillard picked up LL rookie of the week honors. Men’s Soccer: The men’s soccer team posted a dominant week, defeating Clarkson 2-0 and Bard 3-0 to move to 2-2 in Liberty League play. First-year goalkeeper Zach Amato recorded back-to-back shutouts to earn Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week honors. Women’s Swimming and Diving: Sophomore Lilly Mruzik, first-year Sophie Nelson, and the 200-yard medley relay team earned wins as the women’s swimming and diving team opened the season at the Union Quad Meet against Clarkson, Smith, and Union. Men’s Golf: Junior Gabe Ward led the Saints at the Hamilton Invitational, finishing fourth at the par-72 Rome Country Club with a two-day total of 148 and eight birdies. Senior Ben DeBiase improved by nine strokes on Sunday to climb 14 spots and tie for 18th overall. Men’s Cross-Country: Senior Nick Lyndaker earned his third Liberty League Performer of the Week honor following a standout run at the Paul Short Invitational. Weekend Wins for the Scarlet and BrownIt was a great weekend to be a Saint! The football team brought the Hoffman Cup back to Canton after securing a 30-19 win over Norwich on Saturday while men's soccer defeated Hartwick 3-2 after tying its program record with a 9-0 win over SUNY Canton last week. Women's soccer topped Farmingdale 1-0 to remain undefeated while Jackson Hamilton '23 won the Hamilton Short Course Invitational as Saints men's cross country secured the team title and Alli Sibold '24 won the 4k race to take the women's team to a victory. The men's tennis team wrapped up the St. Lawrence Fall Classic with sophomores Broderick Pinto, John Hill-Edgar, and Edvin Strandberg securing individual victories. Saints Varsity 8 Wins Great ADK Boat RaceSaints men's rowing continued its undefeated season as the Varsity 8 topped Union at the Great Adirondack Boat Race on Sunday at Long Lake. The weekend wins for the Scarlet and Brown continued at the CNY Fast Chance in Utica where Hayley Castagnier'23 ran a career-best and won the 100-meter dash to lead the women's track and field team while Erik Geier '23 and William Hauf '25 of the men's team had career-best performances. Unlimited Support for ConservationThe Ducks Unlimited Chapter at St. Lawrence recently hosted its Spring Sportsman’s Night Out Banquet. Saints Inducted into Hall of Fame, Varsity 8 VictoriousDuring Reunion 2023, several Saints were inducted into the Hall of Fame in recognition of their outstanding athletic careers. Saints Varsity 8 came in first place at the Petite Finals during the 2023 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championship Regatta after winning its first-ever Liberty League Championship and New York Championship in program history. “Digital Storytelling for the Environment” Grant AwardedThe Digital Scholarship team at St. Lawrence University has been awarded a $12K grant from the Northern New York Library Network (NNLYN) to leverage digital storytelling tools and techniques to help students and faculty construct powerful environmental narratives with real-world impacts. The grant supports the purchase of professional production equipment intended for outdoor use, such as light-shaping tools, field-recording microphones, and macro lenses, as well as the creation of new training workshops and related web resources on the fundamentals of environmental storytelling. |
