St. Lawrence University Appoints Leader of New Center for the EnvironmentSt. Lawrence University President Kathryn A. Morris and Vice President of the University and Dean of Academic Affairs Alison Del Rossi have announced the appointment of Diane White Husic, Ph.D. as the inaugural leader of the new Center for the Environment. She will take the helm as the Richard ’64 and Gail Stradling Executive Director of the Center for the Environment starting in July. |

New 2024 Alpha Alpha Alpha InducteesSt. Lawrence's Eta Nu chapter of the Alpha Alpha Alpha first-generation college honors society inducted their newest class. Twenty-seven students and eight faculty and staff were inducted into the society. To be eligible, students needed to earned a GPA of at least a 3.2 and completed 9 units of coursework, while faculty and staff needed to have earned at least a bachelor's degree as a first-generation college student. |

Tis' The Season of Softball, Baseball, Golf, and Lacrosse!Jimmy King '26 was named the Individual Champion at the Liberty League Championships, leading Saints men’s golf to a second-place finish at the par-72 Shenendoah Golf Club at Turning Stone on Sunday. There was a playoff to determine the individual champion and Jimmy won on the second playoff hole. Jimmy finished with par on the first hole. Jimmy's opponent hit an errant drive on the second hole, leaving Jimmy with the win and a par. Judge Murphy '24 tallied six goals and an assist for seven points to lead the third-ranked Saints men's lacrosse team to a 15-10 upset win over fourth-ranked RPI on Saturday afternoon in Troy, New York. With the win, the Saints clinched the second seed in the upcoming Liberty League Tournament and earned regular season co-championship honors, with three teams finishing league play at 6-1. Second to Judge, Daniel Mahoney '27 recorded four goals and two ground balls, while Ted Wilson '26 scored twice. Two goals each from Liz Evans '24 and Jessica LaPlaca '27 were unfortunately not enough, as the seventh-seeded Saints women's lacrosse team fell 19-6 in the first round of the Liberty League Tournament to William Smith Tuesday. Both Saints baseball and softball wrapped up their regular seasons with two wins over the weekend. Baseball took two of three games against Clarkson, while softball swept Skidmore. Softball heads to RPI this weekend, hoping to lock down a playoff spot, while baseball engages Clarkson once more in the end-of-season series. Festival of Science, Scholarship, and Creativity! ❤️🤎On Friday, we forego regularly scheduled classes to celebrate our students’ academic accomplishments during the Festival of Science, Scholarship, and Creativity. This year, we learned how stress affects metamorphosis in frogs, how students think about sustainability on campus, how retinol has changed our relationship with aging, and how math can help us make better decisions in games like Monopoly or Dungeons and Dragons (among many other fascinating topics). During our annual Dance Showcase, we watch 16 students perform contemporary, jazz, Irish step, and classical pointe numbers. In the Brush Art Gallery, our gallery exhibition focused on “what we hold.” The 12 senior artists featured used a variety of mediums to consider the things in their lives that are hard to let go of—for better or worse. We couldn’t be prouder of all our students who shared their curiosity and creativity on Friday. Scarlet and Brown Athletic Rundown!Saint's Softball started their year in Florida, finishing with an above .500 record after nine games played in the Sunshine State. They took wins over Washington & Jefferson, Nazareth, Lawrence, Wellesley and Keuka, winning three straight games to finish the trip. Their best performers swept the Liberty League awards, with Meredith Rose '24 winning player of the week, Layne Fritz '26 being named pitcher of the week, and Allison Kloft '27 tabbed as rookie of the week. Baseball also won four games in Florida to start their season, winning two each against Worcester State and Knox College. Kristina Bahl '24 scored at 10:25 of overtime to lift the women's hockey team to a historic 1-0 win over Penn State in the NCAA Regional Semifinals on Thursday night in Madison, Wisconsin. The win marked the first tournament win for the Scarlet and Brown since 2007, and the first tournament win for head coach Chris Wells. The Saints then had their season end in the NCAA quarterfinal at the hands of Wisconsin. Men’s hockey entered their ECAC quarterfinal series as the road team against Colgate, and dispatched them in two straight games to advance to the ECAC semifinal in Lake Placid, New York this weekend. Luc Salem '24 had the game-winner in a 3-2 double overtime marathon in game one, Jan Olenginski '27 scored the series-clinching goal and Ben Kraws M'25 made 41 saves in a 3-2 game two win. St. Lawrence faced Quinnipiac in the ECAC semifinal and took home the win where they moved on to play in the ECAC championship on Saturday, March 23 where they were defeated by Cornell. No. 4 nationally ranked men’s lacrosse has established itself as one of the strongest teams in the NCAA after two straight wins over other nationally-ranked opponents. They downed No. 11 York 9-8 with a highlight-reel overtime goal from Ben Hutchinson '24, and No. 5 Christopher Newport 13-12 in another overtime thriller. Battle for the ECAC Championship Title!The Skating Saints began an exhilarating journey by fiercely defending their home ice against Yale University in the opening round. In the quarterfinals, the Scarlet and Brown showcased their dominance, sweeping the rink in a best-of-three series against Colgate University. The first game unfolded in a nail-biting fashion, with a thrilling 3-2 victory after two rounds of overtime. The second game saw the Saints secure a clean 3-2 win by the end of the third period. Advancing to the semifinals, the Saints shut out the reigning national champions, Quinnipiac University! Following the gritty playoff run, The Skating Saints took on Cornell to battle for the ECAC championship title. The saints fell just short with Cornell taking the Whitelaw Cup in a 1-3 loss for the Saints. As the Lake Placid Rink resonated with Scarlet and Brown, the St. Lawrence Community witnessed a series of unforgettable matchups, etching memories that will endure for a lifetime!
