    SLU Alum is a finalist in Big Data Bowl Competition

    Shane Hauck ’23 is a finalist in the National Football League ’s (NFL’s) 2024 data analysis competition, the Big Data Bowl. This year’s competition focused on tackling. Hauck and his team wrote an analysis of NFL tackling entitled “No Edge, No Chance: The Impact of Setting the Edge on Zone Run Plays.” The annual Big Data Bowl is a data analysis competition meant to generate innovative statistical methods in football.

    Exhibition: German Modernism- Sound and Vision

    - Richard F. Brush Art Gallery Showcasing works by major German artists in St. Lawrence University’s permanent collection, alongside select works from the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester and the Picker Art Gallery at Colgate University, "German Modernism: Sound and Vision" presents a range of aesthetic styles and movements from early twentieth-century German modernism, such as naturalism, expressionism, abstraction, and Neue Sachlichkeit or New Objectivity. Recognizing the under-representation of women artists during this era, works by Käthe Kollwitz figure prominently in the exhibition.

    Exhibition: Paintings by Sven Sandberg

    - Richard F. Brush Art Gallery The paintings of London-based artist Sven Sandberg are “untimely” in the best sense of the word. In his new collection of paintings produced specifically for this exhibition, Sandberg evokes the cafés, galleries, backstages, and street scenes of 1920s Europe.

    - Griffith Arts Center 123 Gallery talk presented in conjunction with the exhibitions "German Modernism: Sound and Vision" and "Sven Sandberg: Paintings", on display at the Richard F. Brush Art Gallery from February 19 to April 10, 2024. Brook Henkel holds the Ph.D. in Germanic languages from Columbia University and taught at Haverford College before joining St. Lawrence University in 2016. Visiting artist Sven Sandberg received an MFA from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin in 2016. He has exhibited primarily in Ireland and the United States.

     Saints Breaking Records!

    Women’s hockey wrapped up another successful weekend by winning their third and fourth games in a row over Quinnipiac and Princeton respectively. Their record now stands at 23-9-0, the best women’s hockey team winning percentage (.719) since 2016-17. They have clinched a "First-round bye" and will host the "ECAC’s second round".

    The men’s hockey team shocked the college hockey world Friday evening by defeating the defending national champion, No. 5 Quinnipiac, 3-1 at Appleton Arena Friday evening. Defenseman Philippe Chapleau '25 scored two goals late in the game to seal the victory.

    Program records fell on the track Friday, with Alli Sibold '24 and Nick Lyndaker '26 both breaking records in their respective 3000 m track and field events at the "Fastrack National Invitational" in Staten Island, N.Y. Lyndaker, broke a 40-year-old program record by one second with a time of 8:13.87. Sibold’s time of 9:30.76 in the event is the new women’s program-best by 12 full seconds.
