Saints Post Dominant WinsWomen’s Soccer: Senior Meredith Donahue tallied a goal and an assist as the women’s soccer team earned a balanced 4-0 win over Bard College at the Lorenzo Ferrari Soccer & Lacrosse Complex in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. The Saints improved to 5-3-3 overall and 1-1-0 in Liberty League play. Football: Six touchdowns, including five from senior Will Lederman, powered St. Lawrence to a 45-14 Liberty League win over Hilbert on Saturday at Leckonby Stadium. Lederman passed for a career-high 341 yards and four touchdowns, completing 14 of 17 passes with a long of 73 yards. Senior Nicholas Huhtala added four catches for a career-best 137 yards, and senior Shea Goodwin recorded six receptions for 95 yards. Lederman was named LL offensive performer of the week, while first-year Luke Robillard picked up LL rookie of the week honors. Men’s Soccer: The men’s soccer team posted a dominant week, defeating Clarkson 2-0 and Bard 3-0 to move to 2-2 in Liberty League play. First-year goalkeeper Zach Amato recorded back-to-back shutouts to earn Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week honors. Women’s Swimming and Diving: Sophomore Lilly Mruzik, first-year Sophie Nelson, and the 200-yard medley relay team earned wins as the women’s swimming and diving team opened the season at the Union Quad Meet against Clarkson, Smith, and Union. Men’s Golf: Junior Gabe Ward led the Saints at the Hamilton Invitational, finishing fourth at the par-72 Rome Country Club with a two-day total of 148 and eight birdies. Senior Ben DeBiase improved by nine strokes on Sunday to climb 14 spots and tie for 18th overall. Men’s Cross-Country: Senior Nick Lyndaker earned his third Liberty League Performer of the Week honor following a standout run at the Paul Short Invitational. Scarlet and Brown Athletic Rundown!Saint's Softball started their year in Florida, finishing with an above .500 record after nine games played in the Sunshine State. They took wins over Washington & Jefferson, Nazareth, Lawrence, Wellesley and Keuka, winning three straight games to finish the trip. Their best performers swept the Liberty League awards, with Meredith Rose '24 winning player of the week, Layne Fritz '26 being named pitcher of the week, and Allison Kloft '27 tabbed as rookie of the week. Baseball also won four games in Florida to start their season, winning two each against Worcester State and Knox College. Kristina Bahl '24 scored at 10:25 of overtime to lift the women's hockey team to a historic 1-0 win over Penn State in the NCAA Regional Semifinals on Thursday night in Madison, Wisconsin. The win marked the first tournament win for the Scarlet and Brown since 2007, and the first tournament win for head coach Chris Wells. The Saints then had their season end in the NCAA quarterfinal at the hands of Wisconsin. Men’s hockey entered their ECAC quarterfinal series as the road team against Colgate, and dispatched them in two straight games to advance to the ECAC semifinal in Lake Placid, New York this weekend. Luc Salem '24 had the game-winner in a 3-2 double overtime marathon in game one, Jan Olenginski '27 scored the series-clinching goal and Ben Kraws M'25 made 41 saves in a 3-2 game two win. St. Lawrence faced Quinnipiac in the ECAC semifinal and took home the win where they moved on to play in the ECAC championship on Saturday, March 23 where they were defeated by Cornell. No. 4 nationally ranked men’s lacrosse has established itself as one of the strongest teams in the NCAA after two straight wins over other nationally-ranked opponents. They downed No. 11 York 9-8 with a highlight-reel overtime goal from Ben Hutchinson '24, and No. 5 Christopher Newport 13-12 in another overtime thriller. Battle for the ECAC Championship Title!The Skating Saints began an exhilarating journey by fiercely defending their home ice against Yale University in the opening round. In the quarterfinals, the Scarlet and Brown showcased their dominance, sweeping the rink in a best-of-three series against Colgate University. The first game unfolded in a nail-biting fashion, with a thrilling 3-2 victory after two rounds of overtime. The second game saw the Saints secure a clean 3-2 win by the end of the third period. Advancing to the semifinals, the Saints shut out the reigning national champions, Quinnipiac University! Following the gritty playoff run, The Skating Saints took on Cornell to battle for the ECAC championship title. The saints fell just short with Cornell taking the Whitelaw Cup in a 1-3 loss for the Saints. As the Lake Placid Rink resonated with Scarlet and Brown, the St. Lawrence Community witnessed a series of unforgettable matchups, etching memories that will endure for a lifetime!
