2025 Convocation Ceremony Honors Faculty and Staff, Awards Promotions The St. Lawrence University community gathered under the canopy of the Herring-Cole Grove in the Enchanted Forest on Aug. 27 to celebrate the start of a new academic year and recognize the outstanding contributions of faculty and staff.

St. Lawrence Fed Challenge Team Tackles Real-World Financial Challenges St. Lawrence University’s Fed Challenge team leveraged the power of their liberal arts education, the University’s top-ranked alumni network, and financial support from a local bank to prepare for this year’s virtual National College Fed Challenge.

Physics Students Discuss Their Microwave Projects Students in Dr. Munir Pirbhai's Phys 221L "Modern Physics Lab" course presented their microwave projects to the Physics department faculty at our annual Microwave Symposium.

St. Lawrence Students Contribute to U.S. Foreign Policy through Diplomacy Lab This fall, six students partnered with senior leadership of the Europe and Eurasian Affairs program at the Foreign Service Institute of the U.S. State Department. Under the guidance of Dr. Mert Kartal, political science students investigated the impact of immigration on the rise of far-right populism in European Union member countries.

Taming Trash: Students Learn About Waste Management This semester, students in the Taming Trash course, taught by Dr. Lori Clark explored waste management through hands-on experiences. The class visited the St. Lawrence compost site, the Cornell Cooperative Extension Anaerobic Digester, and the Development Authority of the North Country Materials Management Facility.

Athletics

Saints Earn All-Region Accolades Football: Senior captain and tight-end Oskar Baldwin earned Division 3, Third-Team All-Region honors for Region II. Baldwin, who also earned First-Team All-Liberty League accolades, played in all nine games for the Saints this season and led the team in receptions with 40 catches for 491 yards, averaging 47.89 yards per game. Men’s Soccer: Seniors George Charalambous and Max Mogul, along with sophomore Henry Brown, earned All-Region III Second Team honors for their play this season. Brown, who was named the Liberty League Player of the Year, and earned First Team All-League, emerged as the league's top player this season. Women’s Soccer: Senior captain defender Mia Cence earned All-Region III Third Team honors for her play this season. Cence is the first Saint to be named All-Region since Julia Mulhern '20 and Hannah Arment '20, who earned First Team nods in 2019. Cence, who was a Second Team All-Liberty League selection, played in 15 games this past season and started in 14 of them. The defender was a difference maker on the backline helping the team to a 1.18 team goals against average and five clean sheets. For up-to-date scores and information, visit SaintsAthletics.com.

On December 4, President Morris sent a message to the St. Lawrence Community about the passing of Carolyn "Carrie" Johns, professor emerita of environmental studies. Carrie was a beloved member of the faculty, whose dedication to teaching, research, and the environment left an indelible mark on the St. Lawrence community. St. Lawrence Celebrates Community, Perseverance, and a Love for Learning at Commencement 2023 In a ceremony celebrating academic excellence, determination, faculty and alumni mentorship, and the lasting impact of a liberal arts education, more than 550 St. Lawrence University graduates took part in the University’s Commencement ceremony held on Sunday, May 21 in Newell Fieldhouse.

Looking Ahead, Reflecting Back: Meet St. Lawrence's Class of 2023 Members of St. Lawrence’s Class of 2023 are scholar-athletes, global citizens, campus leaders, and advocates. They're future diplomats, doctors, financial analysts, curators, and so much more.

Class of 2023 Recognizes Faculty and Staff at Last Lecture Members of St. Lawrence’s Class of 2023 nominated and selected Jeff Frank, associate professor of education and director of the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Assessment, to receive the 2023 Owen D. Young Outstanding Faculty Award and Dining Services employee Penny Vallance to receive the Kathleen Buckley Outstanding Staff Member Award.

St. Lawrence Prepares Students for the Peace Corps and More Eleven graduating seniors were recently honored with Peace Corps Prep cords, signaling their hard work and dedication to global service—a distinction recognized by the U.S. Department of State Peace Corps. St. Lawrence is one of only six institutions in New York State to offer the program.

St. Lawrence Student Receives Prestigious Adirondack Award St. Lawrence’s very own Hayden Beyer ’26 received the Richard D. Morse Memorial award at the Adirondack Research Consortium annual Conference on the Adirondacks.
