    Saints Back in Action for 2023

    The new year is off to a victorious start for the Scarlet and Brown! Over the weekend, the Saints dominated the competition as the women's ice hockey shut out Union 3-0 while the men's ice hockey defeated Dartmouth 3-2. During the Utica Winter Opener, Alli Sibold '24 won the 1,000 meters to lead the women's track and field team while Timmy Boyce '25 won the 1,000 for the men's team. The wins continued with men's basketball topping RPI 50-37, women's squash securing a 5-4 win over Bates, and men's squash beating Dickinson 7-2 on the road after defeating Bowdoin 7-2 earlier in the week.     A Weekend of Winning!

    The Women's Soccer Team kicked off the weekend with a home game victory against Vassar College, winning 1-0. They continued their winning streak on Saturday, triumphing over Bard College with a score of 2-0. The Men's Soccer Team also secured a 5-0 victory against Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. To cap off the weekend, the Women's Hockey Team secured a 3-0 win against the University of Vermont

    Partial Eclipse Over Campus

    During the mid-semester break, St. Lawrence University Eclipse Center and students from the Society of Physics hosted a Partial Solar Eclipse Viewing on the Java Quad. During this extraordinary spectacle, the moon partially covers the sun's disk, resulting in temporary dimming of sunlight and brightness in its path. It was an afternoon of cosmic celebration, with telescopes, lawn games, music, and snacks, and of course, seeing the entire partial eclipse—they even identified a sunspot!     Saints Skate to Victory; Seasons Continue

    The Scarlet and Brown dominated the competition on Friday as men's hockey defeated Princeton 6-2 in Appleton Arena and women's hockey secured a 7-3 win over Dartmouth on the road. The weekend wins for the Saints continued with men's basketball securing a 69-65 overtime win over Ithaca on Saturday after defeating RPI 56-53 on Friday while men's squash beat MIT 5-4. Men's tennis defeated Daemen University 7-2 at home as the Saints men's track and field DMR team took first place at the Fastrack Invitational.     Employee Booster Requirement

    Senior Staff sent a message to employees on Thursday, January 13, announcing that the University has accepted the Campus Safety Monitoring Committee's recommendation that all employees be required to have a vaccination booster against COVID-19.     Weekly Testing Clinic Time Change

Testing will take place Tuesday, January 19, 12 -1:30 p.m. and Wednesday, January 19, 9 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. in Eben Holden (South Room).     Program Records and Award Nominations for Saints Athletes; Winter Sports Continue

    Saints Women’s Basketball secured a 66-52 win over RPI and Katie Frederick ’21 became the first Saint to record 1,000 career rebounds in a loss to Ithaca on Friday. At the Utica Winter Opener, Women’s Track and Field’s Maia Wahlquist ’25 won the high jump while Men’s Track and Field secured a slew of top 8 performances. On day two of the Colby College Carnival, Ethan Hejna ’22 and Victoria Cubina ’24 posted the top results in their respective slaloms for the Saints Alpine Ski Team.     St. Lawrence’s NYC Program Kicks Off Spring 2025 Semester

    The Spring 2025 semester of St. Lawrence's New York City Program is officially underway, bringing together a distinguished cohort of 12 highly motivated students. Throughout the semester, these students will complete full-time internships across the city from Monday through Thursday while also enrolling in two academic courses.

    Mathematics Major Eliza Brown Presents at the Joint Mathematics Meeting in Seattle

    Eliza's presentation featured research she completed with Dr. Gabriel Dorfsman-Hopkins: "Exploring Mandelbrot Escape Velocity," where she created 3D prints depicting how quickly points pass outside the Mandlebrot set move towards infinity.

    - Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall Christopher Davis, adjunct piano Instructor at St. Lawrence University, will perform Mozart-Sonata in C Minor, K457, Rachmaninov-Preludes from Op 23, Liebermann-Nocturne No. 8, Op 85, and Liszt-Après une lecture du Dante. The event is free, open to the public, and available via livestream.

    - Herring-Cole Feinstone Room For over 50 years the Writers Series program at St. Lawrence University has welcomed all varieties of authors including Pulitzer Prize winners.     Saints Win Big and Earn Accolades

    • Men’s Squash: The Saints went 2-0 this week, edging Hamilton 5-4 in a close match before securing a dominant 9-0 sweep over Dickinson on their Senior Day. Senior Lewis Anderson earned the victory at No. 1, while fellow seniors Hassan Madkour and Dean Brooker recorded three-game sweeps. The Saints, now 5-5, will compete in the Liberty League Championship this weekend, hosted at St. Lawrence.
    • Alpine Skiing: Senior Kobe Villeneuve landed on the podium with a career-best second-place finish in the men’s giant slalom at the Saint Michael’s Carnival. Villeneuve clocked a two-run time of 1:49.15, just 0.01 seconds behind the first-place finisher. His finish marks the first podium for the Saints in the event since Graham Scott ’15 placed second in 2012. The Saints finished fourth overall in the giant slalom.
    • Men’s Hockey: Seniors Will Arquiett and Philippe Chapleau each scored a goal in Friday night’s 2-1 home victory over Cornell. On Saturday, the Skating Saints honored the 25th anniversary of the 1999-2000 Frozen Four team with an on-ice ceremony at Appleton Arena.
    • Men’s Basketball: Two Saints recorded career-high 26-point performances as the team went 1-1 on the road. On Friday, senior Aidan Macaulay led the Saints to a 77-65 win over Bard with his 26-point effort. Junior Dan Anderson matched that total on Saturday against Vassar.
    • Women’s Basketball: The Saints dominated Bard on Friday night with a strong defensive performance, securing a 68-35 victory. Sophomore Elizabeth Flynn recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
    • Nordic Skiing: The men’s team competed in 3.5K skate relays on day two of the Saint Michael’s Carnival. Sophomore Geo DeBrosse, first-year Evan Nichols, and junior Trevor Aitken combined for a time of 43:43.8, placing 15th and earning 46 team points. The women’s team of sophomore Samantha Legate, first-year Caroline Tarmy, and senior Lilli Thomas finished 17th with a time of 50:17.7, earning 39 points.
    • Cross Country: Both cross-country teams earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honors this past week. On the women’s side, senior McKenna Allardi was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete, while junior Patrick Russell and senior Matthew Taylor received the same distinction on the men’s team.
