  3. Letter-writing Event: “Dear North Country”

    The Richard F. Brush Art Gallery and the English department are hosting “Dear North Country,” an in-person letter-writing event on Wednesday, February 26, at 7:00 pm in the Noble Center Ireland Lounge. The event is part of an international project called "Make Visible"–an ongoing, community-led project developed by New Zealand artist, curator, and activist Shannon Novak.

It is one of the reasons St. Lawrence’s New York City Semester—not limited to finance—can be transformational for those getting a foot in the door.     Physics Majors Present Posters and Demonstrations

    Earlier this semester, Dr. Munir Pirbhai gave the students in his Phys-317 Instrumentation Lab a list of experiments to explore and gave them two minutes to choose one that sounded interesting, without looking up any details. They recently shared their findings.

    Dr. Cynthia Mondesir, Dr. Heather Jones, Dr. Jillian Bartling, and Dr. Tim Atkinson served as panelists for Foundations of Medicine and pre-health students at the annual Community Physician Reception.

    Multi-Language Major Presents Paper at International Middle Eastern Studies Conference

    Billie McClosky '24 presented her paper “Reclaiming the Image of the Arab Women: Feminism and Empowerment through Photography and Social Advocacy” at the Middle Eastern Studies Association Conference in Denver, Colorado, on December 1st.

    - Online voting event It’s that time of the year again! Voting is now open for the images presented by my students in biology 392, Research Methods in Fluorescence and Confocal Microscopy. Voting will close on the 14th at noon.

    Skating Saints Sweep Weekend 

    It was a great weekend to be a Saint! Men's ice hockey swept the competition with a 4-0 win over Brown University on Saturday after skating to a 2-1 win over Yale University on Friday. The wins for the Scarlet and Brown continued with men's basketball defeating Geneseo 85-70 on the road while women's basketball topped Clarkson 64-54 at home last week. For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores visit SaintsAthletics.com.

  5. SLU Alum is a finalist in Big Data Bowl Competition

    Shane Hauck ’23 is finalist in the National Football League ’s (NFL’s) 2024 data analysis competition, the Big Data Bowl. This year’s competition focused on tackling. Hauck and his team wrote an analysis of NFL tackling entitled “No Edge, No Chance: The Impact of Setting the Edge on Zone Run Plays.” The annual Big Data Bowl is a data analysis competition meant to generate innovative statistical methods in football. “Contestants in each year’s Big Data Bowl compete for prizes ranging from game tickets to cash, including a $100,000 prize for the competition.” Hauck and team are finalists in the Coaching track. They are one of five teams of finalists that will present their work to judges and NFL teams at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, IN on February 28th.
