  1. Opportunity and Friendship Inspire Reed Family’s Giving

    During their time at St. Lawrence in the 1980s, John Reed ’85, P’16 and Leslie Reed ’87, P’16 built close friendships and a deep sense of community that have remained with them long after graduation. The couple has a well-established record of generous and thoughtful giving, often in memory of dear  St. Lawrence friends, such as their creation of the Caroline “Cammy” Mook ’87 Memorial Scholarship.

  2. ‘Shared Closet’ Concept Closes the Loop on Clothing Waste

    Close the Loop, a club dedicated to reducing textile waste on campus, started with Valeria Obregon Diaz ’24 and a couple of friends carrying some of their garments to the Student Center for a clothing swap. Two years later, it has more than 10 active members, manages the thrift store on campus, has hosted multiple clothing swaps, as well as sewing and mending workshops, and was named ‘Rookie of the Year’ at the student leadership awards ceremony.

    The St. Lawrence University Board of Trustees is pleased to welcome a new member. Julie Black Hitch ’88 was elected to a six-year term and began her service this month. She has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to her alma mater, reflecting her deep ties to the Laurentian community.

  6. Professor Honors Student’s Memory with Published Research

    Lukas “Luke” Harvey ’18 had a promising geological career ahead of him before he tragically passed away following a ski accident in March 2018, but his memory endures as his work continues to impact the field of geology. A paper he co-authored with his advisor, Professor of Geology Antun Husinec, was recently published in Elsevier’s journal Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology.
