Robin Rhodes

Robin grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and after obtaining a B.S. and traveling and living throughout the country, Robin earned an M.S.Ed in Educational Design, Training, and Development and an English as a Second Language teaching certificate and is currently working on her Doctor of Arts in English Pedagogy/Writing. Robin is a certified tutor trainer for Literacy of Northern New York, and teaches EAP (English for Academic Purposes), ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages), ESOL tutoring, and ESOL pedagogy/methods courses. Robin also started and designed SLU’s Conversation Partner Program and frequently leads trips for SLU students to teach in Rwanda. Robin is housed in the Modern Languages and Literatures Department and is also on the African Studies Program Board.
Robin is also the director of English language learning for the Ubushobozi Project in Musanze, Rwanda and is the English language faculty liaison to the National Cycling Team of Rwanda. Robin also regularly travels to China and Kenya to train teachers and has written lesson plans for NYS Department of Health for local migrant farm workers. Robin also collaborates with Red Rose School in Nairobi for teacher training purposes. Robin regularly travels to present and national and international conferences. Robin specializes in learner centered education, instructional methods for English language learners with different cultures and backgrounds, and teaching in difficult circumstances. Robin lives with her family in Pierrepont and travels every chance she gets.
