Mikey Rioux

Mikey Rioux is an interdisciplinary artist, choreographer, educator, and researcher whose work explores imagination as an embodied mode of inquiry. Working across dance, visual art, sound, performance, and installation, they explore how imagination, embodiment, and material engagement become forms of research.

Rioux earned an MFA in Choreography from the University of Iowa and a BFA in Studio Art from Cornish College of the Arts. As an educator with more than three decades of experience as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher, they have taught ballet, jazz, contemporary dance, improvisation, choreography, and yoga in universities, conservatories, and community programs throughout the United States.

Their creative work has been presented in theaters, galleries, festivals, and site-responsive environments, including Mystic Sister, which was selected for the 2025 American College Dance Association Gala Concert. Their teaching and creative research invite students to embrace productive uncertainty as a catalyst for discovery, artistic practice, and new ways of knowing.
