Kenton Jones

Kenton Jones has worked steadily as a theatre artist, designer, and educator for several years and in a variety of venues. Los Angeles award-winning designs include On the Verge and The Skin of Our Teeth. At the University of Memphis, his design for Intimate Apparel received the Ostrander Award in scenic design.

Kenton has served as charge artist at Williamstown Theatre Festival, Barrington Stage, Des Moines Metro Opera, Weston Theatre Company, Arizona Theatre Company, and others. His artwork has graced a few B movies: Phantasm II; Salmonberries.

In higher education, he has migrated to the East Coast, teaching at Christopher Newport University and DeSales University.

A visual storyteller, he enjoys evoking location and mood, researching period detail, and collaborating with the creative team and students to realize onstage environments.

Areas of research include improvising scenic design during rehearsal; current and leading-edge stage technology; and the history and evolution of scenic design.
