Alejandra Luna
I am theatre artist, teacher and director always centering a decolonial, consent-based and anti-racist praxis in my work. I believe that theatre is a vital tool of storytelling in our present day that can expand people's understanding of the complicated world we live in. With my focus on directing, the enrichment of our communities can happen not just when an audience witnesses a show, but in the production process, educating artists through nuanced topics that are not usually discussed openly because of societal norms. I commit to leading with curiosity, empathy, equity, and accountability every day in all aspects of life. Now more than ever, it is important to encourage radical imagination and build structures that are sustainable for all living beings on earth. It is vital to uplift stories that show us the unlimited possibilities and realities of life, for better or for worse. I see and practice the world I want to live in, in my production process, classroom, and life, and it is always my hope that I can educate and inspire people who cross paths with me to do the same.
