RE:                  Commencement Guest Housing Reservations

DATE:               March 17, 2022

Commencement will be here very soon and we want to provide you with information that may be helpful as you plan for your guests.

GUESTS AT COMMENCEMENT

Due to limited hotel availability in the Canton area, St. Lawrence University offers you the opportunity to register guests to stay in a University residence hall room on Friday and Saturday night, May 20 and 21.

Reservations will be accepted from March 21 to May 18 and must be made online at the link below (please note that the database will be undergoing maintenance and may not be accessible between March 30 – April 4).  Phone reservations cannot be accepted since full payment of $49.00 per person, per night, must be made at the time of the reservation.  Please note we only accept payment by credit card.

Guest check-in will be in the Sullivan Student Center on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21.  Cancelled reservations will be refunded up until Friday, May 13.  Please share with your guests that the University provides linen, as well as a pillow, towel, washcloth and blanket for each bed, but they should bring any additional amenities to make their stay comfortable.  No meals are included in this price. Checkout is Sunday, May 22 by 6:00 p.m.

Housing assignments are determined on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Special arrangements may be made for some health problems (please be sure to include this information under the “Special Request” section of your registration form).  Please also note that Theme Cottages, Steiner Senior Townhouses, Kirk Douglas Hall, Hulett, Jencks, Sykes, and Dean Eaton will not be available for commencement guest housing due to the large number of seniors living in these buildings.

SENIOR WEEK HOUSING

As a graduating senior, you may remain in your own room through Senior Week until Commencement.  Due to liability issues, non-Seniors who do not have a campus responsibility must leave campus by Saturday, May 14 at 1:00 p.m.  (Non-Senior students with responsibilities on campus must be sponsored by a department and receive approval from the Residence Life Office.  Sponsoring departments must pay for a student’s room and board during Senior Week.)

The residence halls, townhouses, theme cottages and Greek houses will close at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 22.  Students must checkout with a Residence Life staff member.  Please understand that our staff will be working hard immediately following Commencement to prepare rooms for Summerterm students and for summer guests of the University.  Rooms and common areas should be left in clean condition and be clear of all personal items and trash.

If you have any questions regarding Commencement or Senior Week housing, please e-mail reslife@stlawu.edu, stop by the Residence Life Office, or call (315) 229-5250.
