St. Lawrence Partnership Creates Seamless Pathway to Graduate Study in Outdoor Leadership
St. Lawrence University has entered into a new agreement with Prescott College to expand opportunities for students studying Outdoor Leadership.
The partnership establishes a pathway for St. Lawrence students pursuing an Outdoor Leadership minor to gain guaranteed admission into Prescott College’s nationally-recognized Master’s in Outdoor Leadership program.
The agreement guarantees admission to St. Lawrence graduates who are in good academic standing, have completed the Outdoor Leadership minor, enroll at Prescott within five years of graduation, and have no academic or behavioral violations.
Given its proximity to the Adirondack Park, St. Lawrence is recognized nationally as a leading institution for students interested in the outdoor learning and leadership. With its unique Adirondack Semester, the Outing Club, and popular Outdoor Program that takes students on immersive and educational trips across the North Country and beyond, the campus community is deeply engaged in outdoor education and environmental stewardship.
Dick ’64 and Gail Stradling Executive Director of the Center for the Environment Diane Husic says this agreement creates new professional pathways for students. “So many of our students who earn a minor in Outdoor Leadership think to themselves, ‘What can I do next?’ and this agreement provides a great pathway for those students to continue doing what they love,” Husic says.
St. Lawrence already partners with Prescott College through the EcoLeague Exchange, a consortium of six colleges and universities throughout the United States committed to ecologically focused education and sustainable living. Through EcoLeague, students can spend a semester at partner institutions—including Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage and College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor—studying the environment and sustainability.
