St. Lawrence graduates have a thirst for knowledge and are innovative problem-solvers. This periodic roundup features Laurentians who are in the spotlight for making a positive impact on their communities, companies, and the world.
Robin Aïsha Pocornie ’18
Robin Aïsha Pocornie ’18 was recently honored by being listed for the Women of the Future Programme’s 50 Rising Stars in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) for her work with robinAIsha Consultancy, her consultancy firm that equips organizations across industries to think intersectionally about potential harms before developing any technological solutions. The list celebrates talented female trailblazers and role models aged 35 and under from around the world who are at the forefront of ESG.
The official list release was preceded by a weekend where listees could meet and engage in valuable discussions on how we envision shaping the world around us.
Pocornie studied economics and psychology at St. Lawrence.
Tessa Yang '15
Tessa Yang ’15 was recently featured in People magazine for announcing a new novel set to be released next June titled The Jellyfish Problem.
The forthcoming novel, Yang says, is about finding your way out of grief and back to what you love. She teaches classes on fiction, creative nonfiction, and literary editing at Hartwick College, where she is an assistant professor of Literature, Media, and Writing.
Yang studied English at St. Lawrence and was on campus in October 2023 as a featured Writers Series guest.
Emily Sheft ’15
Emily Sheft ’15 was recently featured in the Essex on Lake Champlain for being announced as an incoming Administrative Officer for the Adirondack Community Foundation, which connects people, ideas, and resources to improve lives and expand opportunities throughout the Adirondack region.
Sheft, who studied government and Asian studies at St. Lawrence, has most recently taught 9th–12th grade Social Studies at Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES. Prior to that, she held teaching positions at Port Chester High School in Nyack, New York, and Isaac Newton Middle School for Math & Science in New York City.
