David Lloyd ’75
David Lloyd ’75 recently published a new poetry collection, The Last Season, which navigates uneasy existential questions made more urgent for us all in a time of climate dislocation and derangement.
Lloyd, who studied English at St. Lawrence University, is now a Professor of English at Le Moyne College. He is the author of twelve books, including five poetry collections: The Everyday Apocalypse, The Gospel According to Frank, Warriors, Shared Origins: a collaboration between three poets, and The Last Season. He published three works of fiction: Boys: Stories and a Novella, Over the Line, and The Moving of the Water. His stories, poems, and translations have appeared in many journals, including Denver Quarterly, The Massachusetts Review, Poetry Wales, and Virginia Quarterly Review.
Julia DeVoy ’90
Julia DeVoy was recently quoted in an article in the Boston College Magazine titled, “Welcome to the Age of Fast Fashion,” where she discusses how our society’s disposable attitude toward fashion has created a textile waste crisis and contributed to exploitative conditions for garment workers.
DeVoy, who earned a dual-degree at St. Lawrence and went on to earn degrees from Harvard University and Oxford, has studied fast fashion for more than a decade and is currently the associate dean of undergraduate students and programs at the Boston College Lynch School of Education and Human Development.
José Miguel Santelices ’17
José Miguel Santelices ’17 recently gave vocal performance concerts and masterclasses at Fuyang Normal University in China as well as at Tunghai University in Taiwan.
During the trip, Santelices, who studied Music at St. Lawrence, also presented the Colchagua Vocal Institute, an initiative he launched through the Santelices Foundation to promote and preserve Hispanic vocal repertoire and create cultural connections worldwide.
