World Premiere of How Did We Get Here?: An American Phenomenon by Sid Spencer and Kaleb Davis

How Did We Get Here? is a collection of stories of black people who display the racial wealth gap through their experiences living in New York City, Philadelphia, and Trenton. The film explores the negative effects of redlining and white flight as well as the ways in which the people affected have either embraced it or found ways to thrive within it. Film photograph is utilized to present a modern phenomenon through an “old” medium to juxtapose the notion that racial oppression of blacks in America is a former issue rather than a current one.
