Pianist Christopher Davis is originally from Croghan, NY. Davis is a recent graduate of l’Université de Montréal where he earned his Doctorate of Music in Piano Performance. During his doctoral program, Christopher studied under pianists Jimmy Brière and Justine Pelletier. Davis completed his Master’s of Music in Piano Performance at the Crane School of Music under the supervision of François Germain. Christopher holds a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Business with a concentration in piano pedagogy from Crane as well, during which time he studied with pianists Paul Wyse and Sonia Wheaton Dudley.
As a student, Davis had the opportunity to participate at the Académie Orford Music Festival in Orford, Québec. Christopher has performed in the United States and Canada, presenting multiple solo recitals, as well as participating as part of several group recitals as a soloist and collaborative artist. Davis has participated in multiple master classes with pedagogues David Jalbert, José Ramon Mendez, Carolyn True, and Jimmy Brière. He has also performed as a member of the Crane Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Crane Opera Orchestra, and as a member of various chamber groups in Potsdam and Montréal. During his doctoral studies, Christopher was selected by the university to be an International Student Representative for anglophone students in the Doctorate of Music program at the university. Christopher was a member of the Crane Opera Orchestra’s production of Copland’s The Tender Land in 2016 which won 3rd Place in the American Prize in Opera Performance, 2017-18 for the College and University Division. Other opera productions at Crane that Christopher participated in were Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, and Micheal Chang’s Buoso’s Ghost. In 2017, Christopher won second prize at the Crane Concerto Competition, and he later performed the same concerto as a soloist with the Crane Symphony Orchestra in March 2018.
Currently, Christopher is an Adjunct Piano Instructor at St. Lawrence University and teaches piano at Watertown Music Studio. Previously, Davis has worked as a Lecturer at l’Université de Montréal and as a Professor of Piano at the prestigious École de Musique Vincent-d’Indy in Montréal.
