How do we inspire students to come to care about our courses?
Motivation, like attention, is a precondition of student success. We can create extrinsic motivators with our grades and our policies, but how do we inspire students to want to learn for reasons all their own? What role can faculty play in cultivating that inspiration? This session will focus on the roots of student motivation, its importance, and how we can inspire students to engage because they want to.
