The SLU String Orchestra & Friends are excited to present the program Celebrating 60 Years of Star Trek, a symphonic journey through the vast Star Trek universe featuring music by composers Alexander Courage, Jay Chattaway, Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner and Michael Giacchino. Included on the program are music selections from Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek (2009), Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek Voyager, Star Trek: The Inner Light (from Star Trek: The Next Generation), Star Trek First Contact, and Star Trek Into Darkness.
The SLU String Orchestra consists of St. Lawrence University students, staff, and faculty, and also features talented local high school and college students, along with music professionals from throughout the North Country, from Massena to Watertown and everywhere in between. In addition to the strings, a full complement of woodwinds, brass, and percussion instruments brings 64 musicians together to form a symphony orchestra and recapture the magic of Hollywood soundstage orchestras. The orchestra is conducted by Christian Hosmer.
We encourage true Star Trek fans to wear costumes to the concert!
The event is free and open to the public, with livestreaming. Watch the Livestream.
