Saints Back in Action for 2023The new year is off to a victorious start for the Scarlet and Brown! Over the weekend, the Saints dominated the competition as the women's ice hockey shut out Union 3-0 while the men's ice hockey defeated Dartmouth 3-2. During the Utica Winter Opener, Alli Sibold '24 won the 1,000 meters to lead the women's track and field team while Timmy Boyce '25 won the 1,000 for the men's team. The wins continued with men's basketball topping RPI 50-37, women's squash securing a 5-4 win over Bates, and men's squash beating Dickinson 7-2 on the road after defeating Bowdoin 7-2 earlier in the week. A Weekend of Winning!The Women's Soccer Team kicked off the weekend with a home game victory against Vassar College, winning 1-0. They continued their winning streak on Saturday, triumphing over Bard College with a score of 2-0. The Men's Soccer Team also secured a 5-0 victory against Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. Partial Eclipse Over CampusDuring the mid-semester break, St. Lawrence University Eclipse Center and students from the Society of Physics hosted a Partial Solar Eclipse Viewing on the Java Quad. During this extraordinary spectacle, the moon partially covers the sun's disk, resulting in temporary dimming of sunlight and brightness in its path. It was an afternoon of cosmic celebration, with telescopes, lawn games, music, and snacks, and of course, seeing the entire partial eclipse—they even identified a sunspot!
