St. Lawrence University Creates New Pathway to Medical Education at UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine

In their shared efforts to ease health care workforce shortages in underserved communities across the Northeast, St. Lawrence University and the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNE COM) have signed a new articulation agreement that guarantees qualified graduates from St. Lawrence priority consideration for a medical education at Maine’s premier health professions university.

Hands-On Culinary Journey: Exploring Middle Eastern Flavors in Prof. El Khoury’s Class

In Professor Gisele El Khoury’s class, “Cook, Eat, and Tell… Food from the Arab World and the Middle East,” students had a hands-on experience making Manakish (a beloved Middle Eastern breakfast).

Three St. Lawrence students attended the annual International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) at RPI

Sponsored by IBM, the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is an annual, multi-tiered competitive programming competition among universities worldwide. The contest commenced at Texas A&M University in 1970 and has since expanded to encompass branches and chapters globally. On Sunday, November 10, 182 teams participated in the East Central and Northeast North America East Division across 12 satellite sites.

SLU String Orchestra Concerts

Sat, Nov 16 - All day Pickens Hall, Heuvelton, NY, and Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall The SLU String Orchestra is excited to present its second 20th Anniversary concert, "Musicians’ Choice Concert: Celebrating 20 Years! Part 2!" which features a diverse assortment of string orchestra music including Baroque, Classical, Celtic, and Film music, all selected by participating musicians of the orchestra from twenty years of past concert programs.

 Saints Earn Liberty League Recognition and Sh utout the Competition

Men’s Soccer: Sophomore Henry Brown was named Liberty League player of the year in end-of-season awards. Brown, who was named the league's Rookie of the Year last season and is an all-Liberty League first team member, emerged as the league's top player this season, scoring 12 goals through 17 games and had an assist for 25 points. 
Elsewhere, senior Max Mogul and sophomore Baker Diaz joined Brown on the first team. Fifth-year Sam Pijpers, sophomore Nicholas Petrone, and senior Will Baker made the second team, and sophomore Gustav Schiebler qualified for the third team. The win for Brown came after the Saints went to the Liberty League championship game and fell to Vassar in penalty kicks. They battled to a 0-0 draw with the Brewers before losing 4-3 in the final game’s penalty shootout.
Women’s Soccer: Senior captain Mia Cence and sophomore midfielder Madison King-Thurber were named to the all-Liberty League second team for the Scarlet and Brown.
Volleyball: Sophomore Kori Meissner, senior Kate Gardner, and sophomore Araiza Acum-Santos all set career-highs as the team lost in four sets to the SUNY Potsdam Bears, but then downed the SUNY Poly Wildcats 3-1 in their season-ending triad Saturday.
Women’s Ice Hockey: Junior goalie Emma-Sofie Nordstrom registered a shutout for Saints women’s hockey as they downed Union 3-0. That improved their record to 8-4-2 on the season. Junior Kennedy Wilson had two goals and senior Abby Hustler tacked on another. Puck drop for the non-conference matchup between St. Lawrence and Clarkson will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 13 in Appleton Arena. The Route 11 rivalry game is part of a Field Trip Day that will bring over 3,000 local school kids to the arena for the game. The game will be broadcast live regionally on SportsNet New York (SNY).
