St. Lawrence Welcomes Academically Distinguished Class of 2028
Members of the Class of 2028 begin their St. Lawrence adventure as one of the most academically distinguished cohorts in the University’s history. Auditions for Fall Dance Concert!
- Intermediate to advanced dancers interested in developing new work with dance faculty member Jessie Madden are encouraged to sign up for Fall Dance Concert auditions held Saturday, September 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Working collaboratively as a cast, the piece will explore states of water in nature and their resonance with our own lived experiences.

Exhibition: Our Place in the Scheme of Things
- Richard F. Brush Art Gallery This exhibition underscores the essential elements of the environment — water, air, earth — and their degradation caused by storms, fire, and drought often brought about by human pursuits. Photographs and videos on display reflect the relationship between the physical and metaphysical, serving as a spiritual, biophilic statement that highlights the environmental challenges that contemporary societies confront.
Exhibition: Change Is a More Accurate Measure of Time Photographs by Mark Klett, SLU class of 1974
- Richard F. Brush Art Gallery This exhibition is presented in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Mark Klett’s graduation from St. Lawrence University in 1974. The show features 12 photographs from "El Camino del Diablo," a project based on a journey by a young mining engineer, Raphael Pumpelly, through Arizona and Mexico in 1861 on “the road of the devil.”Athletics
Saints Secure Wins to Kick Off the Fall Season
Saints Men’s Golf secured its first win of the season with a combined score of 602 at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course, marking the first victory for first-year Head Coach Dave Clausen at St. Lawrence. Gabe Ward ’27 finished as the tournament runner-up with a combined score of 147, earning him the Saints Athlete of the Week honors. Mary Grace McCann ’25 led the women’s golf team to a fourth-place finish at the St. Lawrence Invitational, placing third individually with a combined score of 157 (77, 80). Sadie Cumming ’28 also performed well, finishing 11th with a score of 169 (84, 85) in her collegiate debut. The winning streak for the Scarlet and Brown continued as Nick Lyndaker '26 secured a first-place finish at the Plattsburgh 5K, with a time of 16:11.4, propelling the Saints Men’s Cross Country team to the top of the leaderboard. Avery Blanchard ’28 led the women’s cross country team to a first-place finish with a time of 19:28.0 while Charlotte Blake ’27 and Adriana Cecchetelli ’26 followed closely, finishing in second (19:50.8) and third (20:02.1), respectively. At the Mary Hosking Invitational, Molly Jespersen ’26 advanced to the A draw final for Saints Women’s Tennis. She defeated RIT 8-6 in the semifinal match before falling to the University of Rochester. Saints Field Hockey will celebrate its 50th anniversary with alumni and friends during the home opener on Saturday, September 7, at 7 p.m. against SUNY Oswego.

Messages to the Community
Throughout this week, Health Services will host walk-in COVID-19 testing clinics for symptomatic students or students with a recent known COVID-19 exposure. Clinics will be held Monday, Nov. 29, through Friday, Dec. 3, from 8:30 -11:30 a.m. and 12:30-3:30 p.m. at the Diana B. Torrey '82 Health and Counseling Center. These clinics are in addition to the University's weekly testing clinics, which are held for unvaccinated campus community members and also open to any asymptomatic student, faculty, and staff member. Weekly testing clinics take place Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in Eben Holden.

- Zoom Each semester, the Center for International and Intercultural Studies partners with faculty, staff, students, and alumni to offer an engaging speaker series on timely, global topics. Students share how COVID-19 impacted their study abroad experiences.Native American Social Dance
- Eben Holden St. Lawrence's Native American Student Alliance (NASA) presents 'The Native North American Traveling College: A Public Dance Event.' NNATC will host an interactive social dance, and they will also have crafts for sale. Masks are required.
“Veladas Culturales” - LBGTQ+, Queer/Cuir Poetry
- Winston Room, Sullivan Student Center The Caribbean, Latin American, and Latino Studies Department is hosting an event to bring awareness to the current AIDS pandemic affecting minorities, BIPOC, and countries from the Global South. Read and/or listen to poetry to remember those who passed away due to AIDS. Readings will be in Spanish and English.
Gallery Talk with Akwesasne Mohawk Artist Iakonikonriiosta
- Richard F. Brush Art Gallery Akwesasne Mohawk quilt artist Iakonikonriiosta will discuss her recent quilt, Tsi Kiontahsawen / In the Beginning, depicting the Haudenosaunee Creation Story, the quilt Tewasennahawi/We Carry Our Names, about Mohawk Identity, and the innovative sewing techniques employed in the quilt’s construction. This event is free and open to the public.

The SLU String Orchestra Presents Peace: Music for Reflection
- Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall The St. Lawrence String Orchestra, directed by Christian Hosmer, will perform well-known classic works by Bach, Mozart, and Pachelbel, with newer repertoire by Eric Whitacre and Jay Ungar, and eclectic film, musical, and Celtic favorites. Wind Ensemble Live and In-Person Crossing Barriers Concert
- Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall The St. Lawrence Wind Ensemble, directed by Theresa Witmer, will perform a variety of music from the southern shores of New Zealand, the Caribbean, Argentina, the British Isles, and more. NCAA Personal Bests for Men's XC; Winter Sports Continue
The Saints had much to celebrate the first weekend of break! Three members of the men's cross country team competed at the NCAA Championships in Louisville, Kentucky, where Jackson Hamilton ’23 and George Gowdy ’23 each set personal best times. The women’s basketball team defeated SUNY Plattsburgh 83-41, Williams College 65-64, and Hamilton 72-68, while the men's squad beat SUNY Plattsburgh 85-70 and SUNY Potsdam 70-61. The riding team won its second home show of the year at the St. Lawrence Show. The wins continued at the outset of break with Men’s Squash defeating both Haverford and Middlebury 8-1 and Women’s Squash sweeping Haverford 9-0, while Women’s Ice Hockey beat Brown 2-1 and RIT 5-1 and Men’s Ice Hockey secured a 6-4 win over Princeton.
