Saints men's and women's track and field teams each won the Intercollegiate Athletics Twilight Meet on Saturday to wrap up the regular season before heading to the league championships. The victories for the Saints continued with women's tennis heading to the semi-finals after beating Ithaca 5-4, and women's lacrosse set to compete in the first round of the Liberty League tournament after defeating RIT 11-10 after dominating Nazareth 21-8 last week. Former Saints Women's Lacrosse and Field Hockey Coach to be Honored with IWLCA Hall of Fame InductionLongtime St. Lawrence women's lacrosse and field hockey coach Dotty Hall will be enshrined in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Hall of Fame in November. Hall was one of the most successful coaches in the history of Saints women's athletics with a combined win total of 306 victories in field hockey and lacrosse. Read her story. |
Saints Head to Liberty League Championships; Swim Program Records ShatteredThe men’s and women’s track and field teams are headed to the Liberty League Championships after winning the SLU Open against SUNY Plattsburgh, Utica, Vermont, Mohawk Valley, and SUNY Potsdam last weekend. During the Liberty League Championships in Ithaca, the women's swimming and diving team shattered program records in the 800 freestyle relay and 4x400 freestyle as Maggie Wenger '24 set a new 100 freestyle program record. Over the weekend, men’s basketball defeated Union 81-62 to secure a first-round playoff game after topping Skidmore 65-64 and women’s basketball beat Skidmore 76-45 to secure their 20th win of the season. Men’s ice hockey defeated Cornell 2-1 in an overtime contest on Friday while women’s ice hockey skated to a 3-3 tie with Harvard last week and men’s tennis beat SUNY Oneonta 8-1 on Saturday. Men’s squash defeated Middlebury 7-2 in the quarterfinal matchup of the Summers Cup at the CSA Nationals but fell to No. 5 seeded Tufts in the Semifinal matchup. Saints Shatter Records; Head to Liberty League ChampionshipsThe Saints track and field teams dominated the Intercollegiate Twilight Meet as Kimberly Merchant ’22 set a program record in the discus and several Saints secured top spots in their competitions as they head into the Liberty League Championships this weekend. Women’s lacrosse is headed to the Liberty Leagues after defeating RIT 21-14 to set a new program record for wins in a season and securing a 16-13 victory over Nazareth while men’s tennis beat Ithaca 6-3 after dominating SUNY Oswego 9-0 on the road. Saints Baseball defeated Skidmore 15-5 and 18-8 in a doubleheader after securing a 22-6 win over SUNY Canton 22-6 earlier in the week. Over the weekend, the softball team concluded its regular season while the men’s and women’s rowing and golf teams closed their respective seasons during the Liberty League Championships. Men's Soccer Claims Liberty League TitleAfter defeating RPI 2-1 on Saturday, the No. 5 Saints men’s soccer team toppled Ithaca College 3-1, claiming the Liberty League title and securing the ninth title for the program since 2004 when the conference was formed. The Scarlet and Brown will head to Montclair, N.J., to take on Washington College in the NCAA Tournament, their 23rd NCAA appearance in program history, and fourth time under head coach Mike Toshack. |

Volleyball celebrated a come-from-behind 3-2 win over RIT on Friday to earn a spot in the Liberty League finals, where they fell to Clarkson 3-0 in the championship match on Saturday. Women’s Swimming and Diving defeated Bard College 91-48 while the men’s team topped Bard 61-51 at home on Saturday. Grace Jackson '22 earned Champion High Point Rider honors this weekend as Saints Riding rose to the top as the High Point Team at both the Cazenovia Horse Show and the St. Lawrence Horse Show. Men's Hockey defeated RPI 4-3 as they opened their ECAC slate on the road on Friday. Fall Student-Athletes Earn Liberty League All-Academic HonorsA total of 78 St. Lawrence fall sport student-athletes earned Liberty League All-Academic honors in their respective sports. Women’s lacrosse topped Rochester 19-7 in the Liberty League opener after defeating Brockport 15-12 and Plattsburgh 18-7 while men’s lacrosse beat SUNY Cortland 14-8 and Western New England University 12-10. Men’s tennis defeated Bethel 7-2 after securing an 8-1 win over St. Scholastica at the UTSA National Campus while women’s tennis dominated New Paltz 8-1 after beating St. Scholastica 6-3. Weekend Victories for the SaintsOver the weekend, Saints women's tennis wrapped its regular season with a 7-2 win over William Smith after dominating Ithaca 7-2. The wins for the Scarlet and Brown continued with men's tennis defeating Ithaca 8-1 on the road while men's rowing Varsity 8 placed first at the Skidmore Sprints. During the University of Rochester Alumni Meet, Nicholas Lyndaker '26 won the 1500m, Michael Skutt '24 won the 5000m, George Gowdy '23 won the 10,000m, and Eric Geier '23 won the 110m hurdles for the men's track and field team while Haylei Coolican '23 won the 5000m for the women's team.
