    Every summer, St. Lawrence students immerse themselves in the North Country community while working alongside local organizers, advocates, farmers, and business leaders, thanks to the St. Lawrence University Public Interest Corps (SLUPIC).

    Faculty and Staff Honored, Awarded Promotions at Annual Convocation Ceremony

    Marking the start of a new academic year, faculty, staff, and university personnel gathered to celebrate the contributions of all members of the St. Lawrence community. The University recognized faculty who earned tenure and promotions during the annual Convocation and honored several employees with awards for their outstanding service.

    Federal Grant Supports Commitment to Student Mental Health and Well-Being

    St. Lawrence University has received a three-year, $287,061 grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to support its Comprehensive Care Network (CCN) Project. The project will use evidence-based approaches to improve the identification and treatment of at-risk students and expand access to services that address mental health, suicide prevention, and substance misuse.

    Visiting Scholar to Present Data Science for Social Justice

    - Gulick Auditorium St. Lawrence University's chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa honorary society will sponsor a presentation by Visiting Scholar Talitha Washington, president of the Association for Women in Mathematics and director of the National Data Science Alliance.

    Scarlet and Brown Triumph

    Starting off strong this week the men's golf team took the win with Cooper Evans placing first place at the Clarkson Invitational, his second career title from the Golden Knights. Saints football followed suit with a 14-7 home victory against Norwich University. In women’s soccer, Lilly Stone 26 and Zoe Rogan 27 tallied first career goals, defeating Castleton University and closing the Manchester Cup with a 3-0 win.

    Congratulations, Nathan Turtledove ’23!

    During this US Open season, we’d like to congratulate our very own tennis champ Nathan Turtledove ’23, who was presented with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s prestigious 2023 Ann Lebedeff Leadership Award as endowed by Billie Jean King at a banquet in New York City on Aug. 26.     St. Lawrence University Senior Staff sent a message to employees announcing that the University has accepted the recommendation from the Campus Safety Monitoring Committee requiring all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.     President Morris, New York Six Presidents Pen Joint Letter in Support of Increased Pell Grant Funding

    St. Lawrence University President Kathryn A. Morris joined together with the presidents of the New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium member institutions to send a joint letter to the United States Congress members representing their districts, asking them to support doubling the Pell Grant for qualified students.

    Professor Publishes Book on Religion and Politics

    Assistant Professor of Religious Studies Damon Berry has published a new book, “Christianity and the Alt-Right: Exploring the Relationship.” The book’s publisher, Routledge, describes it as “a must-read for those interested in religion in America, religion and politics, evangelicalism, and religion and race.”

    Government Professor Publishes Book on Israel

    Associate Professor of Government Ronnie Olesker has published a new book that explores Israel’s standing in the international community titled, “Israel’s Securitization Dilemma: BDS and the Battle for the Legitimacy of the Jewish State.”

    Convocation 2021
    Wednesday, August 25; 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. at Gunnison Memorial Chapel

    President Morris and Dean Schonberg will introduce our new faculty and staff colleagues, recognize newly tenured and promoted faculty colleagues, and recognize faculty colleagues newly appointed to endowed professorships. The Keene, Maslow, Taylor, and Coakley awards will also be presented.

    In-person attendees must be masked per the University's current masking policy. Those not in attendance may watch the program via the livestream.
