    St. Lawrence University has created a new bachelor’s degree program in biomedical sciences, preparing graduates for careers in health, medicine, or research through interdisciplinary learning and individualized career preparation.

    St. Lawrence students participating in the London study abroad program visited the Embassy of Latvia to meet Artūrs Saburovs '10, who is currently serving on the diplomatic staff as Third Secretary responsible for Communications and Diaspora Affairs.

    Student Earns "Best Speaker" Award

    Eduardo Puerta ’22 was awarded a “best speaker” prize for his presentation on his research exploring connections between knot theory and linear algebra at the Mathematics Contest and Competition of Northern New York (MCCNNY) on March 26.

    Geology Dept. Replicates Volcanic Explosion

    Even in the colder months, the Geology Department does not shy away from some hands-on, outdoor activities to illustrate geologic concepts. For her class "Natural Disaster and Climate Change," Dr. Sarah Brehm organized a real-time volcano explosion behind Brown Hall.

    SLU Writers Series Presents Viebranz Anniversary Reading with Robin Hemley

    - Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall The St. Lawrence Writers Series welcomes Robin Hemley, the inaugural Viebranz Visiting Professor of Creative Writing. Registration is required for this in-person event.

    Rhythm and Roots Ensemble Concert

    - Launders Underground St. Lawrence University's Rhythm and Roots Ensemble will present an evening of songs in the style of 1950s Rhythm and Blues. The in-person event is free, open to the public, and available via live streaming.

    Track and Field Teams Secure Ice Broken Open Titles; Spring Sports Continue

    The Saints track and field teams are continuing a winning streak after securing team titles at Ice Broken Open on Saturday. The women's team won 12 events and the men's team won 9 events during the home meet against Castleton, Clarkson, Herkimer, NVU-Johnson, Plattsburgh, and Potsdam. The weekend wins continued with the men’s and women’s tennis teams each dominating Bard 9-0 while men’s lacrosse defeated Ithaca 14-10 and women’s lacrosse beat Bard 20-8. Baseball defeated Ithaca 6-2 after beating SUNY Poly 2-0 last week while Esports advanced to the Elite 8 in the Teemo Cup after securing a 2-0 win over Milligan University. After winning its 11th-straight Regional Championship,  four members of Saints riding will advance to Zones on April 9. Eleven skiers from the Alpine and Nordic ski teams were honored by the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association (USCSCA) for having earned National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team honors for the 2022 season while six members of the men's and women's track and field teams earned all-region honors for the indoor season, as announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores visit SaintsAthletics.com.

    Brenda Papineau Named St. Lawrence University's Director of Native American Affairs

    St. Lawrence University has named Brenda Papineau director of Native American Affairs. Papineau, a member of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, graduated from St. Lawrence with a bachelor’s degree in sociology in 2002, a master’s in counseling and human development in 2006, and a master’s in educational leadership in 2015.

    Each One Inspired: Haudenosaunee Art Across the Homelands from the New York State Museum

    - Richard F. Brush Art Gallery The St. Lawrence University Richard F. Brush Art Gallery will present an exhibition showcasing the artwork of 53 contemporary artworks by Haudenosaunee artists from all six Haudenosaunee Nations beginning Monday, Oct. 17 through Saturday, Dec. 10.

    Weekend Victories for the Saints

    Over the weekend, Skating Saints forward Greg Lapointe '25 scored a hat trick for a four-goal weekend as three other Saints tallied double-digit points during a 5-4 victory over Princeton University. The wins continued with Maggie Wenger winning 100 and 200 freestyles in a loaded Don Richards Swim Invite at RIT.  During the Saints Track and Field Holiday Relays, the women's team won the distance medley relay while the men's team won six events to capture the team title in the season opener. Women's basketball secured a 58-50 victory over Union and  men's basketball defeated Union 74-69 as women's ice hockey skated to a 4-2 victory over Dartmouth.     Capitalizing on St. Lawrence’s Connection to Cornell Law School: Phil Duggan '15

    Phil Duggan ’15 earned his J.D. from Cornell Law School in 2021, thanks to the St. Lawrence University-Cornell Law School Scholarship. While interviewing for his first jobs in the legal field, he found himself returning to his multifaceted St. Lawrence experiences as evidence of his ability to embrace challenges, adapt to new environments, and learn on the fly.

    Saints Dominate Spring Matchups

    Saints men’s lacrosse defeated Vassarr 19-7 after beating Middlebury 18-11 in an on-the-road matchup that landed Mark Mahoney ’22 a number six spot on ESPN’s Sports Center Top 10 Sports Plays in April. Women’s lacrosse dominated RPI 17-3 to move into second place in the Liberty Leagues standings while women’s tennis secured a 7-2 win over RIT and men’s tennis beat Union 5-4. Softball defeated Clarkson 8-6 while several members of the men's and women's track and field teams secured top performances during the Upstate Alternative Meet in Cortland and the Smashing Saints Esports team ended their season in the Sweet 16 of the ECAC playoffs. For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores visit SaintsAthletics.com.
