Saints Win Championships and Liberty-League Honors

• Track and Field: Junior Nick Lyndaker became St. Lawrence’s first individual men’s track and field national champion since 2010 last Saturday. He was crowned champion in the mile run at the NCAA indoor championship, posting a time of 4:06.45. Lyndaker is the first Men’s Track and Field member from Canton to win a national championship.
• Women’s Tennis: The Saints are off to the best start in program history after winning eight games in Florida this past week. They are now 13-0. They beat St. Norbert twice (7-0, 7-0), Hope College (4-3), Crown College (7-0), Wisconsin-Eau Claire (5-2), University of Wisconsin-La Crosse(4-3), George Fox (5-2), and Edgewood College (6-1). 
• Men’s Hockey: Three Saints have now signed deals to play professional hockey. Senior Drake Burgin signed a pro contract last week to play for the Kansas City Mavericks in the ECHL. Graduate student Reilley Connors signed a pro deal in the ECHL, inking a deal with the Utah Grizzlies. They join graduate student Dominic Basse, who joined the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads two weeks ago.
• Women’s Squash: Five Saints were named to All-Liberty League teams, including first-year Angel Otshabeng, who was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Year. She had a record of 7-6 on the season and won Most Outstanding Player honors at the St. Lawrence-hosted Liberty League championships, helping claim the league title for St. Lawrence. Junior Laura Franz, and senior Meg Pruett were named All-Liberty League first team as well. First-year Mariam Dodd and junior Madeleine Martin were named to the All-Liberty League second team.
• Men’s Squash: First-year Gregory Malsang was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Year and named to the All-Liberty League first team. Three more Saints were named to All-Liberty League second team. Malsang had a 15-3 record in his first season and was 12-1 when competing in the top spot, and he won Most Outstanding Player Honors after taking down Rochester’s Yash Fadte in the Championship. Senior Lewis Anderson, first-year Miguel Posada Villa, and junior Patrick Walford were all named to the All-Liberty League second team.
• Women’s Lacrosse: The Saints went 2-0 this past week, taking down Dickinson College (7-2) and handing Vassar their first loss of the season (11-6). Senior Neve Ley put up six goals across the two games, while sophomore Jessica LaPlaca put up five. Sophomore Kelsey Roth tallied four, and first-year Zoe Froimovitz was named Liberty League Rookie of the Week.
• Softball: The Saints picked up six wins in Florida to kick off their 2025 campaign. They took down New England Col. (6-2), SUNY Brockport (5-4), Nazareth (5-2), Old Westbury (8-2), Southern Maine (2-1), and Keuka (14-0) during the trip. First-year Madison Connelly has been named Liberty League Rookie of the Week for her power-hitting performance in Clermont, where she ranks eighth in Liberty League slugging percentage.
• Women’s Hockey: The No. 8 Skating Saints posted a 4-1 victory over No. 7 Penn State to advance to the NCAA quarterfinals. The Scarlet and Brown scored three goals in the first period of play, Abby Hustler notched two goals. Junior Kennedy Wilson and graduate student Kristina Bahl each added a goal. They were eliminated Saturday in the NCAA quarterfinal against No. 2 Ohio State.  
• Baseball: The Saints won game one of the doubleheader last Saturday on a walk-off from senior Timothy Connor to grab the 3-2 win. Timothy Connor and sophomore Jack Finnegan both recorded one hit on the day. Connor also recorded an RBI, along with sophomore Mike Siano.

On March 19, President Morris informed the Laurentian community about the passing of Roger Lee Woodard, a longtime member of St. Lawrence University who served on our dining services staff and the facilities team. Read the message here.

On March 20, President Morris informed the Laurentian community about the passing of Board Chair Emeritus and Trustee Emeritus Larry Winston '60,  P'85, GP '07, '10, '11, '17. A devoted alumnus, Larry served St. Lawrence with distinction as a longtime Trustee and Chair of the Board of Trustees. Read the message here. 

Saints Track & Field Teams Win Ice Broken Open

It was a great weekend to be a Saint as the men's and women's track and field teams kicked off their respective outdoor seasons by winning the Ice Broken Open against Plattsburgh, Herkimer, Potsdam, Mohawk Valley, and Clarkson. The home wins for the Scarlet and Brown continued with men's tennis dominating RIT 8-1, women's tennis shutting out RIT 9-0, and men's lacrosse defeating St. John Fisher 20-11 after securing a 12-10 victory over Ithaca. During the IHSA Zone 2 Regionals, Harper Eskey '26 earned High Point Rider honors while several riders qualified for regionals and zones. For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores visit SaintsAthletics.com.
