    University Receives $1.5 Million Gift to Support Well-being and Honor Golf Coach

    Inspired by her passion to promote mental health and well-being on our campus, especially the emotional wellness of student-athletes, Jan Egbers P’21 is presenting St. Lawrence University with a $1.5 million gift, which will create an endowment to support St. Lawrence mental health and counseling services. The fund also honors retiring long-time Head Golf Coach Mary Lawrence by naming the position the Mary A. Lawrence Head Coach for Men's and Women's Golf.

    St. Lawrence Dedicates Building in Honor of Bill and Lynn Fox

    A space at the heart of St. Lawrence’s campus where students can access resources that support their success in the classroom now bears the name Fox Hall, home of the William L. Fox ’75 Center for Academic Opportunity.

    St. Lawrence Board of Trustees Elects New Members

    St. Lawrence University’s Board of Trustees has elected Kathleen Perkins Colson ’79 and Carolyn Davidow Putney ’88, P’22 as new term members. The trustees will serve for a period of six years beginning on June 1.

    - Brush Art Gallery The St. Lawrence University Richard F. Brush Art Gallery exhibition showcasing artwork created by Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), Canadian Inuit, and Peruvian artists is on display until Saturday, June 4.

    Saints Wrap Up Seasons; Earn Athletic and Academic Accolades

    After breaking program records and securing several podium finishes this year, Timothy Boyce '25 and Emma Palumbo '25 capped off their respective rookie seasons by securing 14th and 15th place finishes at the NCAA Track and Field Championship Meet. In recognition of her exemplary leadership on and off the field, Saints Women's Lacrosse Captain and ROTC Commander Abigail Eberle '22 was named a 2022 Yeardley Reynolds Love Unsung Hero Award recipient while Isabel Silvia '22 earned IQCLA Third-Team All-American honors, making her the 17th All-American in the history of the Saints Women's Lacrosse program. Five members of the men's lacrosse team were awarded USILA-Dynamic Division II All-American honors while Nicholas Butler '22 was named to All-Region 3 Third Team, and several Saints were named to the Academic All-District team for their academic and athletics achievements. For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores visit SaintsAthletics.com.

    St. Lawrence Announces 2024 Commencement Speakers

    In celebration of their exceptional achievements and exemplary service to St. Lawrence University and the North Country community Kathleen Fitzgerald ’92 and Cali Brooks will be honored during this year’s commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 19. Professor Liz Regosin will address the Class of 2024.

    Students in ANTH 270 Plagues and Peoples recently showcased their research at an end-of-semester course poster conference.

    Chemistry department hosted the 14th Annual Undergraduate and Graduate Chemistry Research Symposium

    On April 20, 2024, St. Lawrence University and the SLU Chemistry department hosted the 14th Annual Undergraduate and Graduate Chemistry Research Symposium for the Northern New York Section of the American Chemical Society. Over 80 students and faculty from six local universities came to present their research and to network and build connections between our different institutions.

    World Languages Students Inducted into Honor Societies

    The Department of World Languages, Cultures, and Media held its annual Honorary Inductions and is pleased to congratulate all the students on their achievements!

    This Week in Athletics!

    Men’s lacrosse qualified for the NCAA tournament via an at-large bid after completing their season as Liberty League semifinalists. The Saints had their best start in program history at 11-0 and finished the season 14-2 with a share of the regular season title with a 6-1 league record. They will make their way back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2022 and the third time since 2017, and are headed to Wesleyan to face Plymouth State on Saturday. 

    For men’s lacrosse major awards, Judge Murphy '24 was named the Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year, while Daniel Mahoney '27 was named the Rookie of the Year. 7 Saints earned All-League accolades and head coach Mike Mahoney '93 earned Coach of the Year honors.

    Women’s lacrosse defender Haley Sundstrom '25 earned Second-Team All-Liberty League honors, while midfielder Neve Ley '25 earned Honorable Mention accolades for the women's lacrosse team, as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning.

    After earning their 14th straight Intercollegic Horse Shows Competition (IHSA) Regional title, the riding team advanced to nationals as a team this past week, finishing fourth overall. After earning Reserve Champion honors at Zones, the Saints competed against the 16 best programs, representing the 353 competing schools.

    In the men’s outdoor track and field season, Zach Jaworski '25, Nick Lyndaker '26 and Patrick Russell '26 had all-conference performances at the outdoor track and field championships this past weekend. St. Lawrence finished fifth overall. The Saints now head to regionals with many athletes qualified.

    Women’s track and field saw Emma Palumbo '25 and Alli Sibold '24 earn all-Liberty League honors at the outdoor track and field championship, with Alli getting an honorable mention in the 1500 meter race and Emma taking second-team honors in the 3000 meter steeplechase. The Saints will also head to regionals beginning next week.

    COVID-19 Booster Clinic 

    In accordance with public health recommendations, a COVID-19 vaccination booster is required for all St. Lawrence University students and employees within 30 days of becoming eligible. A free booster clinic will be offered Thursday, February 24 at the SUNY Canton campus. Register for the booster clinic.

    - Zoom Directed by Andreas Hartmann, this film follows a young Burmese punk as he travels across the country to promote his philosophy- a symbiosis of Buddhism and punk that rejects religious dictates and political doctrine in the former military dictatorship of Myanmar.     Former Saints Women's Lacrosse and Field Hockey Coach to be Honored with IWLCA Hall of Fame Induction

    Longtime St. Lawrence women's lacrosse and field hockey coach Dotty Hall will be enshrined in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Hall of Fame in November. Hall was one of the most successful coaches in the history of Saints women's athletics with a combined win total of 306 victories in field hockey and lacrosse. Read her story

    Saints Head to Liberty League Championships; Swim Program Records Shattered

    The men’s and women’s track and field teams are headed to the Liberty League Championships after winning the SLU Open against SUNY Plattsburgh, Utica, Vermont, Mohawk Valley, and SUNY Potsdam last weekend. During the Liberty League Championships in Ithaca, the women's swimming and diving team shattered program records in the 800 freestyle relay and 4x400 freestyle as Maggie Wenger '24 set a new 100 freestyle program record. Over the weekend, men’s basketball defeated Union 81-62 to secure a first-round playoff game after topping Skidmore 65-64 and women’s basketball beat Skidmore 76-45 to secure their 20th win of the season. Men’s ice hockey defeated Cornell 2-1 in an overtime contest on Friday while women’s ice hockey skated to a 3-3 tie with Harvard last week and men’s tennis beat SUNY Oneonta 8-1 on Saturday. Men’s squash defeated Middlebury 7-2 in the quarterfinal matchup of the Summers Cup at the CSA Nationals but fell to No. 5 seeded Tufts in the Semifinal matchup.  For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores.  For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores.     Saints Brace for Post-Season Action

    • Esports: The Saints continue their Spring dominance as they send four out of their five titles to NECC playoffs, a record high for the Esports program. For a season recap, Rocket League and League of Legends clinched the first seed in their respective divisions, heading into post-season play and ending with a 6-1 divisional record. Overwatch, with a new roster, went 4-3 and secured the second seed in their division. Super Smash Brothers Ultimate finished their season 4-3 and will go head-to-head against Fisher College in their first round of playoff matches.
    • Men’s Lacrosse: The Saints won this past Saturday on the road, taking down Union 11-8. Senior Caleb Torres, junior David Herlihy, and sophomore Daniel Mahoney all had two goals each to secure the win. This was their first conference win of the season.
    • Women’s Lacrosse: St. Lawrence took down Bard this Saturday, putting on an offensive clinic in the 21-1 Liberty League win. Twelve different Saints found the back of the net at least once, as sophomore Jessica LaPlaca and senior Ellie Camp led the charge with four goals each.
    • Men’s Basketball: Junior Adam Dudzinski, senior Aidan Macaulay, and senior Gavin Macaulay received College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District awards for their 2024-2025 season. This trio started all 26 games for the Saints this past season, and to be recognized for this award student-athletes need to have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5.
    • Women’s Basketball: Sophomores Elizabeth Flynn and Norah Niesz received the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District awards for the 2024-2025 season. Both players maintained a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5.
    • Baseball: The Saints kicked off their three-game series against RIT with a 4-0 win on the road. Sophomores Mike Siano and Jack Finnegan both recorded two hits in the game, while senior Timothy Connor and junior John Gannon each had a hit. Canton native and sophomore David Zuhlsdorf led the way on the mound with seven strikeouts, receiving Liberty League pitcher of the week honors in the process.
    • Women’s Rowing: St. Lawrence University Alumna Maggie Fellows ’13 wrapped up the 2025 Winter Speed Order with a win in the 1x final to kick off her journey towards the LA Summer Olympics in 2028 and the Shanghai Worlds. The Warwick, Mass. native and three-time national team member recorded a time of 8:00.11, which landed her first place in the women’s singles sculls A final as she beat out three Olympians in the process.

    St. Lawrence Announces $500,000 Gift to Fund the Ken Okoth Black American Music Project

    Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, St. Lawrence will honor the life and impact of a beloved Laurentian with the Ken Okoth ’01 Black American Music Project, which celebrates Black music history through visual displays, lectures, seminars, and live performances.

    After learning about the Chocolate Passport Project, Priscilla (Penny) Wightman ’74 was inspired to donate three boxes of books and resources about chocolate and sustainability to the St. Lawrence University Libraries.

    Saints Dominate in Florida; Conclude Winter Seasons

    Several Saints are dominating the competition in on-the-road matchups in Florida. Women’s tennis defeated Coe College 6-3 as softball beat Macalester 1-0 and New Paltz 8-3, and baseball swept Colby-Sawyer 2-1 and 8-3. Women’s lacrosse is on a winning streak after defeating Oswego 18-7 at home and Saint Michael’s 13-6 on the road while men’s lacrosse dominated SUNY Geneseo 20-6 and Nazareth 16-7. Timmy Boyce ’25 set a programmatic indoor record in the 800m at the NCAA DIII Track and Field Championships and the Women’s Hockey Commissioners Association announced that Lucy Morgan ’23 is a finalist for the Women’s Hockey Goalie of the Year Award. The Liberty League named squash players Lewis Anderson '25 Performer of the Year and Anannya Morey '25 Co-Rookie of the Year while tapping several squash players for the All-Liberty League Team and naming Scott Denne and Jamie Oakley Coaching Staff of the Year. The Skating Saints concluded its season after falling to Quinnipiac in the ECAC Quarterfinals while Alpine skiing’s Ava Mattson ’22 and Nordic skiing’s Brian Beyerbach '23 and Emma Strack '25 wrapped up their seasons at the NCAA Championships in Utah.     Peterson '24, Team USA Win Gold in Mixed Relay Race

    Sydney Peterson '24 and Team U.S.A. won its first-ever mixed relay gold medal to close out the cross-country competition at the Paralympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. This is the third Paralympic medal for Sydney, who claimed bronze in women's free technique standing and silver in women's long-distance classical technique during her Paralympic Winter Games debut.
