St. Lawrence University Names Kim Robinson Hissong ’94 as Vice President of University AdvancementSt. Lawrence has named Kim Robinson Hissong ’94 its Vice President for University Advancement, President Kathryn A. Morris announced on June 6. Hissong, who has been leading the division in all fundraising and Laurentian engagement activities on an interim basis since last October, will immediately step into the permanent role. |

Two Selective Critical Language Scholarships Support Students’ Study of ArabicMiso Wilson ’24 and Elizabeth Wagar ’24 first studied abroad through St. Lawrence’s Center for International and Intercultural Studies (CIIS) during the Spring 2023 semester, when they enjoyed experiences living and learning in Jordan. As seniors they were each awarded the highly selective Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) through the U.S. Department of State, which provided support for them to participate in an immersive Arabic language program. |
‘Shared Closet’ Concept Closes the Loop on Clothing WasteClose the Loop, a club dedicated to reducing textile waste on campus, started with Valeria Obregon Diaz ’24 and a couple of friends carrying some of their garments to the Student Center for a clothing swap. Two years later, it has more than 10 active members, manages the thrift store on campus, has hosted multiple clothing swaps, as well as sewing and mending workshops, and was named ‘Rookie of the Year’ at the student leadership awards ceremony. |
Recently in Athletics!Twenty-nine members of the 2023-24 St. Lawrence men's hockey team earned ECAC Hockey All-Academic honors, as announced by the league office. Logan Ritchie '24, a finalist for the ECAC Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was named the Saints' Commissioner's List honoree for the third straight season as the team's top scholar from the 2023-24 season. Eighteen members of 2023-24 St. Lawrence women's hockey garnered ECAC Hockey All-Academic honors. Junior forward Taylor Lum '25 was named the Saints' Commissioner's List honoree as the program's top scholar, boasting a 4.0 cumulative GPA, while majoring in Data Science. Judge Murphy '24 earned Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) All-America and First-Team All-Region honors, while Tripp Clark '24 earned a spot on the First Team and Caleb Torres '25, Paddy Condon '25 and Michael Marinello '25 garnered Second-Team honors. Twenty-three skiers from the St. Lawrence Alpine and Nordic ski teams were honored by the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association (USCSCA) for having earned National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team honors for the 2024 season. |

Check out the a sneak peek of the newly renovated lounges, student rooms, and bathrooms in Rebert south and east, as well as two main lounges in Lee. We’ve fully upgraded these areas with new fixtures and finishes, including dimmable LED lighting. This summer, we’re renovating the north wing of Rebert and the north wing and main entry of Lee, all thanks to funds from a $30 million campus facilities enhancement initiative taking place across campus. Saints Dominate in Florida; Conclude Winter SeasonsSeveral Saints are dominating the competition in on-the-road matchups in Florida. Women’s tennis defeated Coe College 6-3 as softball beat Macalester 1-0 and New Paltz 8-3, and baseball swept Colby-Sawyer 2-1 and 8-3. Women’s lacrosse is on a winning streak after defeating Oswego 18-7 at home and Saint Michael’s 13-6 on the road while men’s lacrosse dominated SUNY Geneseo 20-6 and Nazareth 16-7. Timmy Boyce ’25 set a programmatic indoor record in the 800m at the NCAA DIII Track and Field Championships and the Women’s Hockey Commissioners Association announced that Lucy Morgan ’23 is a finalist for the Women’s Hockey Goalie of the Year Award. The Liberty League named squash players Lewis Anderson '25 Performer of the Year and Anannya Morey '25 Co-Rookie of the Year while tapping several squash players for the All-Liberty League Team and naming Scott Denne and Jamie Oakley Coaching Staff of the Year. The Skating Saints concluded its season after falling to Quinnipiac in the ECAC Quarterfinals while Alpine skiing’s Ava Mattson ’22 and Nordic skiing’s Brian Beyerbach '23 and Emma Strack '25 wrapped up their seasons at the NCAA Championships in Utah. Peterson '24, Team USA Win Gold in Mixed Relay RaceSydney Peterson '24 and Team U.S.A. won its first-ever mixed relay gold medal to close out the cross-country competition at the Paralympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. This is the third Paralympic medal for Sydney, who claimed bronze in women's free technique standing and silver in women's long-distance classical technique during her Paralympic Winter Games debut. At the Utica Winter Opener, Women’s Track and Field’s Maia Wahlquist ’25 won the high jump while Men’s Track and Field secured a slew of top 8 performances. On day two of the Colby College Carnival, Ethan Hejna ’22 and Victoria Cubina ’24 posted the top results in their respective slaloms for the Saints Alpine Ski Team. The program is administered by the Conservation Center for Art & Historical Artifacts to assist with identifying potential threats to the Gallery’s permanent collection, and to offer strategies for mitigating them. |
