Saints Secure Weekend Wins, Spring Sports ContinueThe Scarlet and Brown dominated the competition this weekend as women's lacrosse defeated Union 10-9 and Skidmore 15-9 while men's lacrosse defeated Skidmore 13-8 after dominating SUNY Plattsburgh 19-4 under the lights last week. The wins for the Scarlet and Brown continued with women's tennis beating Vassar 5-4, Saints baseball securing a pair of wins over Hobart (5-4,12-11), and Saints softball sweeping SUNY Potsdam (6-5, 6-4) in its home opener last week. During the UVM Quad meet, Emma Palumbo '25 won the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the women's track and field team while Matt Serrano '26, Matt Abell '13, Erik Geier '23, Timothy Boyce '25, and William Hauf '25 each won events to lead the men's team. Men's rowing opened the spring portion of its schedule with a pair of wins over UVM and a win over Middlebury. Saints XC Qualify for NCAA Championships, Scarlet and Brown Dominate Weekend MatchupsFollowing stellar seasons, Saints Women's Cross Country earned an at-large bid to the 2022 NCAA DIII Championships and Timothy Boyce '25 and Nick Lyndaker '26 will compete as individuals in the men's championships in Lansing, Michigan on November 19. Saints Swimming and Diving dominated the competition on the road this weekend as the women's team secured a 193-66 victory over Oswego and a 192-74 win over William Smith while the men's team defeated Hobart 126-33. The wins continued with Football topping Buffalo 31-7 and women's basketball defeating Husson 73-63. After defeating Roger Williams 5-4 on a penalty kick and advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament Saint men's soccer concluded its fall season against Amherst on Sunday. Stress Less WeekLast week Wellness Education sponsored the second annual Stress-Less Week, an initiative started by Active Minds, one of the leading nonprofits dedicated to promoting mental health among young adults. The campus-wide, week-long event included stress management tips, resources, and support through mindful programming: fireside chats with a counselor; managing academic stress with the Academic Advising team; Wellness Zones chair massages with a licensed massage therapist, crafting custom self-care kits; and of course, closing the week with Pet De-Stress. SLU Alum is a finalist in Big Data Bowl CompetitionShane Hauck ’23 is a finalist in the National Football League ’s (NFL’s) 2024 data analysis competition, the Big Data Bowl. This year’s competition focused on tackling. Hauck and his team wrote an analysis of NFL tackling entitled “No Edge, No Chance: The Impact of Setting the Edge on Zone Run Plays.” The annual Big Data Bowl is a data analysis competition meant to generate innovative statistical methods in football. |
Exhibition: German Modernism- Sound and Vision- Richard F. Brush Art Gallery Showcasing works by major German artists in St. Lawrence University’s permanent collection, alongside select works from the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester and the Picker Art Gallery at Colgate University, "German Modernism: Sound and Vision" presents a range of aesthetic styles and movements from early twentieth-century German modernism, such as naturalism, expressionism, abstraction, and Neue Sachlichkeit or New Objectivity. Recognizing the under-representation of women artists during this era, works by Käthe Kollwitz figure prominently in the exhibition. |

In his new collection of paintings produced specifically for this exhibition, Sandberg evokes the cafés, galleries, backstages, and street scenes of 1920s Europe. |

Saints Breaking Records!Women’s hockey wrapped up another successful weekend by winning their third and fourth games in a row over Quinnipiac and Princeton respectively. Their record now stands at 23-9-0, the best women’s hockey team winning percentage (.719) since 2016-17. They have clinched a "First-round bye" and will host the "ECAC’s second round". The men’s hockey team shocked the college hockey world Friday evening by defeating the defending national champion, No. 5 Quinnipiac, 3-1 at Appleton Arena Friday evening. Defenseman Philippe Chapleau '25 scored two goals late in the game to seal the victory. Program records fell on the track Friday, with Alli Sibold '24 and Nick Lyndaker '26 both breaking records in their respective 3000 m track and field events at the "Fastrack National Invitational" in Staten Island, N.Y. Lyndaker, broke a 40-year-old program record by one second with a time of 8:13.87. Sibold’s time of 9:30.76 in the event is the new women’s program-best by 12 full seconds. |

Excelling On The Field and In The Classroom!Nick Lyndaker '26 has continued his record-breaking streak on the outdoor track, setting his third program record of the season with a St. Lawrence-best time in the 5000m on day one of the Bison Outdoor Classic Saturday. His record time of 14:16.16 was also a personal best, and eclipsed the mark of 14:23.21 by over six seconds. That mark was set on April 16, 2016 by Thomas Caulfield '17. Lyndaker was the top collegiate finisher in the 5000m among a field of 101 runners. No. 5 men’s lacrosse earned a decisive victory against Ithaca over the weekend, winning 15-4 as they continue to roll through league play. Ben Hutchinson '24 surpassed his 100th career goal with six goals and two assists in the victory. Softball earned a record of 3-3 over the week, and have still not lost a game on home turf. Sofia Berryhill '25 has thrown three straight complete games, compiling a 2-1 record during that time and earning a combined 1.50 ERA over that original period of time. Women’s hockey player Julia Gosling '23 helped power Team Canada to a 6-5 overtime victory over Team USA in the gold medal game competing in her first ever IIHF World Championships on Sunday in Utica, New York. A number of football players have earned a spot in the 2024 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, as announced by the association on Wednesday. Seniors Derek Blanchard '24, Jem Cohen '24, Maxwell Kipp '24, Ben Munn '24, Owen O'Brien '24 and Joseph Ott '24 earned the honor. To be eligible for recognition, college football players must be seniors who have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better and be starters or significant contributors in the 2023 season. A Kaleidoscope of Cultural Traditions! ❤️🤎On Saturday night, the stage in Eben Holden was a kaleidoscope of dance, music, poetry, and fashion featuring cultural traditions new and old from around the globe. Our annual Kaleidoscope showcase is always one of the most-anticipated events of the spring semester and this year’s exuberant display of passion and talent was no exception. The lineup featured music and dance from Bollywood, Madagascar, Southeast Asia, Ireland, France, and more and the evening ended with everyone up on their feet, dancing to the massively popular South African dance hit "Jerusalema."
