Saints Men's Soccer Secure Liberty League Title; Skating Saints Sweep Legends WeekendSaints Men's Soccer are Liberty League Champions once again! The Scarlet and Brown defeated RIT 1-0 in the semifinals on Friday before securing a championship win (3-1) over Skidmore College on Sunday. The team will advance to the NCAA Tournament and details will be announced this week. Saints men's ice hockey swept the competition during Legends Weekend at Appleton with a 3-2 win over RPI on Friday and a 4-2 win over Union on Saturday while women's hockey topped RIT 3-0 on the road. A total of 80 student-athletes earned Liberty League All-Academic honors in recognition of their success in the classroom at St. Lawrence. Saints Dominate Spring Break CompetitionsThe scarlet and brown dominated their spring break competitions as Saints baseball secured wins over Fredonia (15-4), Hamilton (4-2), Muhlenberg (21-6), and Thomas College (5-4, 6-1) while softball defeated Franklin & Marshall (10-3, 5-3) and Utica (2-6, 4-3). Women’s lacrosse topped Rochester 19-7 in the Liberty League opener after defeating Brockport 15-12 and Plattsburgh 18-7 while men’s lacrosse beat SUNY Cortland 14-8 and Western New England University 12-10. Men’s tennis defeated Bethel 7-2 after securing an 8-1 win over St. Scholastica at the UTSA National Campus while women’s tennis dominated New Paltz 8-1 after beating St. Scholastica 6-3. Women's swimming and diving's Maggie Wenger ’24 competed in several events at the NCAA Championships as Esports secured a 1-0 win over the University of Ottawa in a NACA Conference matchup. Women’s ice hockey’s Lucy Morgan ’23 was named a CCM/AHCA All-American for the 2021-22 season, Sanna Koivumäki ’22 of the women’s squash team has been selected to compete for her home country of Finland in the 2022 European Team Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands, and Lewis Anderson ’25 was named Second Team All-American by the College Squash Association. Saints Show Out at InvitationalsMen’s Cross Country: Senior Nick Lyndaker won the Hoffmann Invitational for the first time, pulling away in the final 400 meters to finish in 25:14.8—five seconds ahead of the runner-up. After placing third in 2023, this marked his best result at the meet and helped SLU take third in the team standings. He was named Liberty League Performer of the Week. Volleyball: The volleyball team earned two 3-1 wins over VTSU Castleton and SUNY Potsdam at the SLU Triad, playing in front of large Laurentian Weekend crowds. Women’s Golf: Sophomore Sadie Cumming led SLU at the Union Invitational, finishing second with a two-round score of 158. She shot 81 on Saturday and improved to 77 Sunday, while all five Saints lowered their scores in the final round. Women’s Cross Country: St. Lawrence placed third at the 33rd annual Ronald C. Hoffmann Invitational, kicking off a busy home season with a strong team showing on familiar campus trails during Laurentian Weekend. Men’s Tennis: Sophomores Sebastían Boada and Ryan Tingley won the B doubles title at the Garnet Charger Invitational. They beat Christian Chowder and Daniel Saxe 8-6 to reach the final, where they topped teammates senior Aidan Baracao and first-year Bennett Stout 8-5 in an all-SLU championship match. Women’s Hockey: Junior Kassidy Lawrence made 48 saves and first-year Rylan Haslam scored the lone goal to lift SLU to a 1-0 exhibition win over No. 5 Colgate on Friday in Hamilton.
