    St. Lawrence University Senior Staff sent a message to employees announcing that the University has accepted the recommendation from the Campus Safety Monitoring Committee requiring all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.     For St. Lawrence University’s newest students, the journey to a new academic adventure in the North Country has been especially remarkable. Though a global pandemic may have disrupted their high school careers, they have already demonstrated a steadfast commitment to their academics and their communities.

    President Morris, New York Six Presidents Pen Joint Letter in Support of Increased Pell Grant Funding

    St. Lawrence University President Kathryn A. Morris joined together with the presidents of the New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium member institutions to send a joint letter to the United States Congress members representing their districts, asking them to support doubling the Pell Grant for qualified students.

    Professor Publishes Book on Religion and Politics

    Assistant Professor of Religious Studies Damon Berry has published a new book, “Christianity and the Alt-Right: Exploring the Relationship.” The book’s publisher, Routledge, describes it as “a must-read for those interested in religion in America, religion and politics, evangelicalism, and religion and race.”

    Government Professor Publishes Book on Israel

    Associate Professor of Government Ronnie Olesker has published a new book that explores Israel’s standing in the international community titled, “Israel’s Securitization Dilemma: BDS and the Battle for the Legitimacy of the Jewish State.”

    Convocation 2021
    Wednesday, August 25; 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. at Gunnison Memorial Chapel

    President Morris and Dean Schonberg will introduce our new faculty and staff colleagues, recognize newly tenured and promoted faculty colleagues, and recognize faculty colleagues newly appointed to endowed professorships. The Keene, Maslow, Taylor, and Coakley awards will also be presented.

    In-person attendees must be masked per the University's current masking policy. Those not in attendance may watch the program via the livestream.

    St. Lawrence University's men's and women's hockey teams will be on the ice in less than two months! Season tickets for the men's hockey games are now on sale, and admission to the women's games will still be free of charge, courtesy of North Country Savings Bank.     Class of 2020 Celebrated at Commencement

    ​​​​​​​It was 442 days in the making, but members of St. Lawrence University’s Class of 2020 were finally able to come back together for the first time since March 2020 for their long-awaited commencement ceremony. ​​​​​​​More than 350 graduates returned to campus for the ceremony held on Sunday, August 1, in Newell Field House, with nearly 1,000 people in attendance.

    Aspiring doctors, Appalachian naturalists, impassioned advocates, and more. Members of St. Lawrence’s Class of 2020 entered a rapidly-shifting world after graduating during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic in May 2020. One year later, they have returned after meeting the challenge with great resilience, compassion, and determination.

    Any student applying for admission to St. Lawrence University will no longer need to pay a $60 application fee, a move that ensures everyone who wishes to apply to St. Lawrence can do so.

    First Person: A Recipe for Cultural Exchange

    For Thao Nguyen ’22, her first time through the lunch line at an American school was a much-anticipated experience. Over lunch trays filled with ham sandwiches, Jell-O cups, and milk cartons, she connected with North Country students as she shared her own culture.

    COVID-19 Booster Clinic 

    In accordance with public health recommendations, a COVID-19 vaccination booster is required for all St. Lawrence University students and employees within 30 days of becoming eligible. A free booster clinic will be offered Thursday, February 24 at the SUNY Canton campus. Register for the booster clinic.

    - Zoom Directed by Andreas Hartmann, this film follows a young Burmese punk as he travels across the country to promote his philosophy- a symbiosis of Buddhism and punk that rejects religious dictates and political doctrine in the former military dictatorship of Myanmar.     Former Saints Women's Lacrosse and Field Hockey Coach to be Honored with IWLCA Hall of Fame Induction

    Longtime St. Lawrence women's lacrosse and field hockey coach Dotty Hall will be enshrined in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Hall of Fame in November. Hall was one of the most successful coaches in the history of Saints women's athletics with a combined win total of 306 victories in field hockey and lacrosse. Read her story

    Saints Head to Liberty League Championships; Swim Program Records Shattered

    The men’s and women’s track and field teams are headed to the Liberty League Championships after winning the SLU Open against SUNY Plattsburgh, Utica, Vermont, Mohawk Valley, and SUNY Potsdam last weekend. During the Liberty League Championships in Ithaca, the women's swimming and diving team shattered program records in the 800 freestyle relay and 4x400 freestyle as Maggie Wenger '24 set a new 100 freestyle program record. Over the weekend, men’s basketball defeated Union 81-62 to secure a first-round playoff game after topping Skidmore 65-64 and women’s basketball beat Skidmore 76-45 to secure their 20th win of the season. Men’s ice hockey defeated Cornell 2-1 in an overtime contest on Friday while women’s ice hockey skated to a 3-3 tie with Harvard last week and men’s tennis beat SUNY Oneonta 8-1 on Saturday. Men’s squash defeated Middlebury 7-2 in the quarterfinal matchup of the Summers Cup at the CSA Nationals but fell to No. 5 seeded Tufts in the Semifinal matchup.  For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores.  For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores.     Every year, the St. Lawrence community comes together and finds small ways to bring smiles to members of the North Country.
