    My story begins when the white St. Lawrence University van I was riding in came to a stop outside of Madrid-Waddington Central School (MWCS), home of the Yellow Jackets, 20 minutes from campus. Inside the van, 15 St. Lawrence students waited to begin the first-ever cultural exchange mission organized by Common Ground Connections (CGC), a brand new club at the time.

That’s especially the case for Emily Cafarella '21, who is balancing her academic obligations with her role as a first responder and officer with the Massena Rescue Squad. That puts her on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic, working with her crew to keep her hometown safe.

  5. Environmental Studies Professor Co-Launches Planetary Limits Academic Network

    ​​​​​​​St. Lawrence University Associate Professor of Environmental Studies David Murphy is among five scholars to establish a network of scholars and researchers to promote the understanding of planetary limits, envision scenarios for humanity to thrive within planetary limits, better educate college students about these challenges and advise government officials and communities in developing effective responses.

  6. MCSS Hosts Annual Majors Dinner

    On February 1st, 2023 the Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics (MCSS) department held its annual Majors Dinner. Due to Covid-19, it was the first time in four years that the event took place. Approximately 75 students and faculty gathered at Sergi’s Ristorante Italiano & Pizzeria in downtown Canton for an informal evening of sharing information and socializing. Faculty shared information about upcoming conferences, internship and job opportunities, and departmental events.
