  2. Two Selective Critical Language Scholarships Support Students’ Study of Arabic

    Miso Wilson ’24 and Elizabeth Wagar ’24 first studied abroad through St. Lawrence’s Center for International and Intercultural Studies (CIIS) during the Spring 2023 semester, when they enjoyed experiences living and learning in Jordan. As seniors they were each awarded the highly selective Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) through the U.S. Department of State, which provided support for them to participate in an immersive Arabic language program.

  3. Rewriting the STEM Equation for North Country Girls

    When St. Lawrence math professors Patti Frazer Lock P’08 and Daniel Look started planning the 2024 Math & Everything event, they knew they had their work cut out for them. Keenly aware of the misperceptions often associated with mathematics, statistics, and computer science majors and career paths for women, Lock and Look were determined to give high school women from across the North Country an opportunity to see their potential from a variety of new angles.

    To mark the beginning of a new academic year and celebrate the contributions of all members of the St. Lawrence community, the University honored several employees with awards for their outstanding service and recognized a number of faculty who earned tenure and promotions during their annual Convocation event. The ceremony was held outside in the Herring-Cole Grove on Wednesday, August 25. 

  6. Brush Art Gallery Receives NEH Grant to Assess, Preserve Permanent Collection

    The Richard F. Brush Art Gallery at St. Lawrence University recently completed a preservation needs assessment of the University’s permanent collection thanks to a Preservation Assistance for Smaller Institutions Grant from the National Endowment of the Humanities’ (NEH) Division of Preservation and Access.
