Florence Molk

Dr. Florence Molk is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology. She received her Ph.D. from SUNY Binghamton University.  Her intellectual and academic background is grounded on large-scale/long-term relational processes and world-systemic instituted structures. The focus of her specific research is establishing Europe as a peculiar world-historical construct and the European Union as expansive governmentality space of policing. For several years, she had been an associate of the Fernand Braudel Center for the Study of Economies, Historical Systems, and Civilizations, a leading research institute at SUNY Binghamton University. Her scholarship extends to: world-systems analysis; large-scale social change; policing identities and geographies in the European Union; political economy; householding, gender and migration; and environmental inequalities and racialized geographies.
