Alison Del Rossi.

Alison F. Del Rossi, R. Sheldon '68 and Virginia H. Johnson Professor of Economics, graduated summa cum laude from the University of Delaware.  She graduated with a double major in Economics and English and was a member of the University's indoor and outdoor track and field teams. She was inducted into the University of Delaware Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008.  She received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to coming to SLU in Fall 1999, Alison served a year as a Junior Staff Economist at the President’s Council of Economic Advisers, and she was an assistant professor at the University of Wyoming.

At St. Lawrence, Alison's teaching and research interests include labor economics, law and economics, public finance and government behavior, risky choices (such as smoking and drinking), economics of gender, and quantitative methods in economics. Alison served as Chair of the Education Department and Director of Graduate Education from August 2018 to December 2019. She also served as Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs from 2010-2017.

Alison enjoys time spent with friends and family (husband and adult twin daughters and extended family). She also loves to read (mostly fiction, unrelated to economics), binge a wide variety of TV shows, practice yoga, and participate in many North Country outdoor activities, including cross-country skiing, golfing, hiking, biking, camping, and walking her two dogs. She serves on the Board of the Canton Yoga Loft. Her added pandemic activities have been learning to meditate and fly fish (its own kind of meditation).
